You should look at the Tuffport T60. I'm selling mine if you want to save some $. It does fit your criteria. Very simple. Crazy strong. Water/dust tight (automotive grade door seals).

Lift won't allow larger tire fitment unless you limit the compression travel. Lift only helps on road or when suspension isn't fully compressed. 285s require body mount cutting. 265s fit fine. I ran skinny 235/85R16 on my 2013 Taco. Also axle gearing is really not good if going over 32" tire.
Of the tires mentioned...
Michelin LTX & BFG Ko2 are the best. Quiet. Fantastic on road, snow, wet and off road.
Cooper tires are poor. I had a set. They roll hard. Meaning lots of Resistance. I ran 235/85R16 on my 2013 Tacoma (new at the time) with Firestone Destination MT it could...
Agreed. I've been seeing a bunch with timing chain replacement around 150-200k. And frequently needing head rework around 200k. You are pushing the 2.7L really hard with how heavy the truck is - and that's before you add gear. FYI, power to weight ratio is similar to the 80s 4runner with 22re.
Here's the numbers. I keep all records.
2010 Tundra DC Limited 4x4 - Ownership average 16.50 http://gitout.com/apics/10tundra/MPG/2010%20Tundra%20MPG.pdf
2016 Tundra DC Limited 4x4 - Ownership average 16.38 http://gitout.com/apics/10tundra/MPG/2016%20Tundra%20MPG.pdf
The 2016 Tundra dash MPG...
You could drive a bus on the WABCDR. And that route really isn't much fun in a truck. Not a fan. There was only one section that was entertaining to drive. Much more enjoyable when we got into Canada and toured around.
I've owned 2013 Taco DCSB, 2010 Tundra DC and now 2016 Tundra DC. I'd...
2003 Limited 3.8L 5 Speed
Really depends on how you drive it. Stock it can get 22mpg @ 60-65 mph.
As mine sits (see build) with weighing about 6,000lbs will do 19-20mpg fully loaded on trips keeping under 65mph. In town 16-17mpg mixed driving (I'm careful on how I drive).
Tire weight...
ARB latest bumpers are poorly designed and not worth the money (awful on the Tacoma & 4runner).
CBI Bumper is nice.
I really like Demello : http://www.demello-offroad.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=33_57&products_id=361
Still waiting on the 2014+ bumper (coming soon)
Here's...
Instead of debating... try it for yourself. I didn't think going from 35psi to 40psi would make a difference. But it does. Tire wear is fine. Make sure your tires can handle the pressure. Mine are rated at 60psi max.
Ride quality is subjective. I can't stand worn out or cheap...
Driveshaft is carbon fiber composite so not likely. Dampening block attached to the rear of the transfercase does cause vibration around 2,200 rpm. Mine was more obvious in 4th gear. I removed and no noise.
Wheel bearings will make noise. Tires. Lots of things could be howling.
My brother has Duratracs on his 03 Monty as well 235/85s. Similar mileage. I think they have higher rolling resistance. Also, light weight wheels help.
Lifetime average over 25,000 miles is 16mpg. Off road pulls down the average.
Mixed driving 16-17mpg is the best you'll do with Gen 2.5. That's very respectable actually.
Fuel mileage all depends on how and where you drive any vehicle. There's no way to say what you will actually get...
