    Sierra Challange 2015 Aug 31st - Sept 9th

You might make a skid for the rear driveshaft. Mine is part of the gas skid. Let me know what you find for cistom CVs. I may be willing to buy some if can get a better price.

Curious, that driver side CV seems to be the weak side. Did the rear driveshaft get hit? How did it break?

    New guy with gen3 montero

Come follow some Monteros through the Rubicon and see how quickly you change your mind. Nissan looks cooler and off roadish but looks don't equal capability. Keep it on road or light trail use and it will be fine.

    Les's '01 XLS

Get rid of the oil additives. Put proper weight, quality oil and filter in. Check level. Warm up engine at idle. Then rev frm 2-3,000 rpm for 10-15 min. Don't let rpm drop under 2k. It will force oil into hydrolic lash adjusters. Not unusual to have noise from sitting. Drive it, don't...

Gen 3: Need help diagnosing weird metallic noise

Jack it up and inspect. There isn't a common issue. Could be worn bearing.

Running out of gas....with gas still in the tank

Or dented fuel tank. Visual inspection would be the first place I'd start.

    New guy with gen3 montero

That won't last long if you plan on using it off road. They are extremely weak and problematic. Search front diff issues. Then there's the odd wiring / sensor issues. Montero is overbuilt. Xterra under built. But it will make you appreciate your old Montero. :)

So 4wheelparts, Stockton, CA wouldn't touch my 06 Montero

Yes, I've run one in the front diff and rear diff on various rigs. Much better in the front. But makes driving in snow less safe, more difficult turning (at times) and decreases turning radius. I would leave it open or ARB. Anything that decreases the driveability or reliability isn't...

How to fix rear bumper trim Gen 3

Wow. Yours looks nice. You should see my bumper. :) You can buy from the dealer. Most wrecking yards will just sell you the entire bumper.

ARB lockers or leave it stock. Aussie would ruin the driveability of the truck. Horrible idea.

    3rd Gen Steering Rack

I'm sure I could go through the list (lots of receipts). I rebuilt the heads and did all the heater hoses, trans cooler hoses and have the power steering lines. Older rigs do require more replacement parts but hopefully worth it for the places they take you. :)

Only on very technical trails. Traction control is exceptional.

    3rd Gen Steering Rack

New rack is crazy expensive (OEM). I wouldn't buy remanufactured or rebuilt. Buy used or spend money on new. They do have a low failure rate. You have inner and outer tie rods and both can fail. There is also a boot covering the end that can fail. Most aftermarket steering parts are junk...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

That was good times. Miss you and Jason on the trails. That was a killer Sport. Nearly perfect condition, every factory option. 4.90 gears. 3.5L. Leather. Got some decent trail use in stock form. I liked it better than the Gen2 full size Monteros. But 3rd Gen is a much better vehicle...
