Sorry about your clear bar experience... I bought my material directly from a 3M retailer. I interviewed several shops, read every install guide available and watch videos on the process. The actual install process is simple. I can see someone having trouble with the prep work or solution...
How far can your rig go?
This is my current record from this weekend driving from Portland to San Francisco. Not bad especially pulling the mountain passes with AC on. Also, actual mileage is + 3% = 440 miles! And... there were still 2 gallons remaining! This is why I run light, skinny...
Figured I'd share more information another member messaged me about. Might be helpful for someone else:
APEX Bumper:
Here's a bunch of bumper install pictures (sorry low quality): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8vs0au33f330to3/pa6UQKJD9W
Apex front bumper is excellent. It has the best fitment...
Never posted up these pictures...

What is "affordable"? I thought the Nitro Charger was inexpensive at $100/ea. Is saving $200 worth sacrificing performance and longevity? I often tell people this... "Spending less often costs more"
I have the 886 and additional rear leaf. The additional rear leaf helps match the spring rate better with the front 886 springs. It's also good for towing/heavy loads. I'd recommend it if you plan on adding weight (bumper, winch, etc). The ride quality with the 886 and no additional weight...
This past weekend... Took a small group through the Oregon Coastal Range running on back roads and trails spanning between Tillamook and Trask. Beautiful weather!
Coming soon...
Taco Phase II - Canopy, Roof Tent, Fridge, Batteries, Shower...
I've only run Bilstein on one rig. They were alright. OME are arguably the best value. Performance, cost and durability. My trucks see plenty of trail and rough roads... I've blown through cheap shocks in less than 6 months... I guess it depends on how you use them.
It would ride extremely poorly. The shock valving needs to be correct for the spring and weight... Heck, even the OME Nitro Sport shocks could use more rebound dampening. I can't imagine it with some NAPA specials. Save money somewhere else.
That has to be the ugliest Toyota front end ever produced. Wow. Forget fitting an aftermarket bumper! The bumper height would be massive... Why did they have to squish the grille and lights so much? Horrible.
Don't waste your money on the "street taco" drop until you know how much you actually need. Go too far and you'll invert it. The middle u-joint should be at least at 1-1.5 degrees (difference in angle between first & second shaft). With the angle finder you can raise and lower the carrier...
I had Six States in Portland (local) make it. Cost was about $600. High Angle Driveline is my first choice but they wanted $900 and being in Cali required shipping. They essentially setup the driveline up the same. You'd probably be better off finding a local shop to save shipping and limit...
Also... Had a new drive shaft built about a month or so ago. The factory 3 u-joint shaft is junk. It shuttered off the line when the truck was stock. It only got worse after being lifted. And to top it off... the u joints were out of phase from the factory. There are 2 basic driveline...
The driveshaft setup on the 05+ Tacoma is junk. I had a new one built for my 2013 Taco. My factory shaft was out of phase and the 3 u-joint setup shuttered off the line when brand new. The dealer doesn't know what to do with those type problems. They can do simple part replacement and...
Our group volunteered for the SOLV Forest cleanup workday. Then we explored several trails afterwards. Sorry, no action pictures...
