Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

Dude, you are the one hating on other peoples' way of life. Think about that for a minute. I wish I had the freedom to do what you're doing. But I have a wife, two dogs, house, good career. Do any of those things make me a bad person? Because that's the vibe you're giving off. Really happy...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

I appreciate different view points and Wanderer does seem to be respectful of private property when asked to move along. But the generalizations and wild ramblings are a bit out of control. I'm thinking its been a long time since this poor fellow has had an in-person conversation with another...

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

Hey guys, no updates. Diffs still in boxes in my garage. Moving into a new house, building out the garage, getting married, and the holidays have all been in the way. I expect to make major progress in the next couple of weeks.

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

The R180 arrived but I have not taken it out of the box yet. Just a quick update that this project is still alive.

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

There are a number of aftermarket clutch type LSD's designed for the Subaru R180. These are not ideal for front diff use in a daily driver/off roader though. I am buying a complete Subaru R180 today, will need to wait for it to be shipped. My Quaife "C200" diff arrived earlier this week as well...

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

If anyone could help me find one, for a reasonable price, I will gladly be the tester. Note it has to be an 06+ STI rear diff, R180, with the 3.54 ratio (due to carrier split). I have feelers out in a couple Subaru groups but no response yet. Complete diffs are available on ebay for about 600...

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

Their R180 diffs are for the earlier 25 spline version, not the Xterra's 27 spline. However, the 06+ Subaru STI uses an R180 27 spline rear diff with a similar torsen style LSD from the factory. I am trying to get my hands on one now to test. With regards to R and C series diffs, they are all...

    Hankook Dynapro AT-M 2 ply a concern?

My LR E 255/85 KM2's deform and ride excellently at ~18psi off road. Even better at 15. I then see a bump in fuel mileage when running on the highway at 55psi. I see no downsides to an E rated tire.

    LR3 rock crawling carnage

Couple of things. IMO the bilstein strut broke because it was not manufactured to the same spec as OEM. Weak weld. Have not ever seen this failure on an OEM strut. The poly bushes certainly contributed to the failure of the upper arm. Much stiffer bushing = less shock absorbtion = more fatigue...

    Hankook Dynapro AT-M 2 ply a concern?

You guys are on about two different things. Load rating "ply" is much different from sidewall construction "ply". The Hankooks referenced are also available in LR E "10 ply". I would not buy any "P metric" tire for truly tough off road use.

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

Agreed. I found several references that indicated the full part number for the C200K open carrier and R200 open carrier match. Note there is a carrier split to be aware of with this diff - 3.36 and down is the high ratio carrier (Xterra 3.13). Lower ratios (3.69, 4.08, etc) would need part...

Quaife limited slip rear diff for Xterra/Frontier C200k

Follow along as I attempt to install a Quaife torsen style limited slip rear diff into the Xterra C200k. (Part # QDF10L, designed for an automatic transmission equipped Nissan 350Z w/ R200 diff) Specs on QDF10L here: https://shop.quaife.co.uk/media/blfa_files/QDF10L.pdf General Quaife diff...

    Xterra and ARB Fridge Install

The rear door openings are pretty tight and that looks kind of high up. How much can you open the lid and do you have any problems getting things in/out?

    So tired of breaking R180s

Front diff #1: Vermont Front diff #2: Colorado Rear diff #1: Moab When this problem is solved it will be solved once and for all. I'm tied up in some other financial obligations at the moment so the Xterra is just sitting. On the plus side I was able to drive it 2500 miles home without issue...

    So tired of breaking R180s

Update - have now also broken the spider gears in the C200 rear axle as well. I used to drive my Land Rovers harder than this without breaking this many differential parts (and those are known to have diffs made of glass) Researching replacement options now...

    Need help identifying a part.

Go to a junkyard and start poking around. I dont know of anyplace you could order online. They frequently came with aftermarket power lock kits to piggyback the linkage.

    Why LR4 over L322

I support all of the above. I bought one for my wife (2012 HSE) but it will also be used for mild back country camping trips.

    So tired of breaking R180s

Atrac is nothing more than the software written into the traction control system programming. It is very sensitive to wheel slip at speeds under 7mph. The Xterra system is built like this natively... there is no button to turn it on or off. If you have ever noticed that the traction control...
