    Mitsubishi L300 4WD

Vertical bungies are easy and work. Drill holes in the shelves to inset them and lose the hooks and they look better. Side release buckles and straps work, too.

    Dealing with unpleasant/hazardous odors

Jerry cans on the bumper. Run the carb dry. Keep the tank as close to empty as you can. Stick a golf tee in the fuel cap vent hose on a dirtbike. Wooden floor or tarp as a catch pan. Plan B is a hitch haul bike carrier for, but that is risky on a 15 passenger unless it is a really light...

    who makes this??

Are those air bags or polymer springs (bumpstops)?

    Basic Noobie Questions

AFAIK, the only difference between a 250 and 350 van is in the springs and the GVWR that allows. Not many years even had a 250 passenger, if any.

Here goes nothing...2700 mile trip in an unknown van...what else to replace?

+1 on inspect everything but don't do too much work. And post your route, as there are plenty of expo's along the way that can help if needed.

    Best lighting for snowy conditions

Same as fog--low and maybe yellow/amber. Something good with a real good cutoff to the pattern to minimize backscatter to you. Hella FF series (pick whichever fits your budget and mounting space best) with the optilux yellow bulbs work great for a low price. www.rallylights.com

    Wheel size

And wheel upgrades could make your brakes inadequate. Big cool rims can add up to a LOT of rotational mass. A real catch-22.

    Rainwater Collection on a Trailer

I would be carrying a (normally empty) 30 gallon food-safe plastic drum for water collection. Standard rain barrel setup, add some bleach. Then a katadyn gravity or siphon filter.

4wd Van center of gravity vs Truck camper

It depends more on design than the actual vehicle, BUT the van is much easier to build with a low COG. Just don't put everything on the roof rack...

    MT Swap into a 92+ E350 7.3?

an air cylinder to do that would be BIG. Not sure if their actuator is strong enough for a truck clutch, either. A EB 4x4 6bt MT CCV poptop with a veggie conversion would be my ideal vehicle. Now that I know it CAN be done, it is just time and money.

    MT Swap into a 92+ E350 7.3?

The footwell is bigger than a civic or many other small or sports cars. I know you can fit a pedal in there, it is fitting size 12's in there that may be an issue.

    MT Swap into a 92+ E350 7.3?

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=682117 Not sure if this build thread is on here, but it should be. The guy is putting a Cummins+6speed manual in an eco-based class C.

    Air quick disconnects

several SUPPOSEDLY all-brass options. Most have standard steel ball bearings and springs--they shouldn't be in contact with the water but it still gets rusty. There are ALL SS options, but they will cost you....

    Vehicle Fire Extinguisher?

Buy a junker and set it off. A $300 car is still worth $250+ as scrap after the fire.

2 Adults, 5 Kids, Every Country in North and South America in a Veggie Powered F250

Thanks for the updates and keeping it real. The "truck broke down" day would have pushed me completely over the edge. There is a plan in everything, it would just be nice if it was shared with us ahead of time. BTW, if you ever get to the "Living with the Amish" on your bucket list--I...

    E350 Axle ratio

GV is a lot of money to spend if you already have an OD transmission. My van has a 351 and 3.55's and it is fine for a flatland family bus with 31" tires. I would not want to pull or go up in elevation or through serious hills with it. If I redo it it is getting a 3.73. You might be OK with...
