License Plate/3rd Brake Light Relocation and Trasharoos

^^^, and tree catcher too. Always amazed me at how well the rear fender will "forgive" a close encounter, but the stock license plate holder ... not so much. After the second time I knocked it loose from the stock location, I relocated it (and got the AEV rear corner guards).

    WK2 Lift for Quadra-lift suspension??

Ah, it's a feature that can be disabled. His came from the factory with the Auto Entry/Exit feature enabled. http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_quadralift.htm

    WK2 Lift for Quadra-lift suspension??

Be interesting to see how those fit on the WK2s with the Quadra-lift. My roommate has a 2014 diesel Limited (that I love). Like lysol mentioned, it lowers itself 1" when you put it into Park and when you hit a certain speed on the Interstate (for better aerodynamics).

    Engine: Upgrade 3.8 to 3.6?

If you're not going to be going over 8000ft mountains, ... I was happy with my 3.8/auto/5.13 gears/35" KM2s. I didn't pull a trailer with it, but I would load it up pretty heavy for 4-day weekend camping/off-roading trips, and it did fine at interstate speeds (65-75mph), even through the...

Ways to improve mileage in a JKU?

Bigger tires do lower RPMs. The usual problem with the pre-2012 JKs/automatics/35/stock gears (even 4.10s) is that the bigger tires lower the RPMs so much that at interstate speeds the engine is running under the power band. So anytime you give it gas, it has to downshift, which quickly kills...

Grand Cherookee WK2 With or Without Air Suspension???

Is running the air suspension permanently in lift mode even an option? My roommates automatically lowers itself 1" when you put it in PARK, or go over a certain speed on the highway. It's kind of cool to see it lift itself when you get in and close the door. Weird to hear the compressor for...

more evidence that the Wrangler may be in for a change

The only thing I like about the MyGig (conceptually, I haven't done this yet, but am about to pull the plug) is that it supports multiple cameras (with the Lockpick product). I look forward to having a backup cam and a front cam (to lessen the need to get out and spot myself up hilly terrain).

more evidence that the Wrangler may be in for a change

The UConnect in my buddy's 2014 Grand Cherokee is leaps and bounds better (in terms of screen quality, interface design, and speed) than the crap in the Wranglers.

Suspension solution for a very heavy 2007 JKU

That topic came up in another thread. The term didn't pull up much of anything when searching around for examples in the US, in terms of non-commercial vehicles.

Suspension solution for a very heavy 2007 JKU

Personally, I've run these brackets on my JK for going on five years now. While my JK spends the majority of its time on-road, the off-roading I do includes a fair amount of rock crawling on some of the more difficult trails in PA, VA, NC and SC. On-road, these brackets have added some...

Suspension solution for a very heavy 2007 JKU

FWIW, you can run the AEV brackets on pretty much any brand 2.5-4.5 lift.

    Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

It sucks when sound logic is depressing. LOL Wonder if CAFE targets will make them reconsider that trend?

    Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

Hmm, I know I'm comparing Grand Cherokees here, but this is what fueleconomy.gov shows for annual fuel costs: $2,500 = EcoDiesel $3,450 = Hemi, using Regular gas $3,600 = Hemi, using Midgrade gas (Jeep recommended) That's based on driving 15K miles a year, 55% of those miles being...

    Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

Regarding Wranglers, are you thinking they'll use the old 2.8 CRD or the newer 3.0 "EcoDiesel" that they're currently putting in the Grand Cherokees?

    Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

Well (at least with the GCs) it's not like the Hemi doesn't have it's own price bump. GC folks looking for more than the Pentastar have these two options: Hemi - $2,844 invoice - 14/21 MPG Diesel - $4,005 invoice - 20/28 MPG Fueleconomy.gov has the annual fuel cost of the diesel being...

Suspension solution for a very heavy 2007 JKU

Before I went with the AEV 3.5", I ran a TF 2.5" for a few months. My Jeep was otherwise stock (i.e. "light"), and ended up netting about 3" of lift. There was nothing to restore the caster lost by the lift. At speeds of 45 MPH+, my Jeep handled very flighty/squirrely and required two hands...

Suspension solution for a very heavy 2007 JKU

So if you're not interested in correcting the heigh difference in an AEV lift with a $80 rear spacer/coil retainer ("puck"), then I guess you can look at Synergy. Like AEV, their springs are also progressively wound and frequency-tuned. Unlike AEV, they sell their front/rear springs...

Suspension solution for a very heavy 2007 JKU

I run with the AEV front bumper + a winch. I'd imagine that most lifts expect a heavier front bumper + a winch and tune their front springs for that, plus a little extra to take out the factory rake. If I were you, I'd get one of the kits with progressive springs, load everything up, see the...
