Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

From what I've read on the various JK forums over the years, BLD is part of TCS, but requires the simultaneous use of brakes and gas to engage (which I think is why kojackJKU mentioned "pulling up the e-brake a few clicks"). Personally, I've never seen it work. When the open/open JKs that I...

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

I'm pretty sure the guys making this video (along with 99.9% of JK owners) would have no idea how to "manually engage" the BLD system. In that sense, the Sport and Sahara would have gone nowhere on that ramp, just like the majority of the other vehicles.

Rock Sliders / Body Damage, Truth or BS?

Same here with the XRC Rock Sliders. To their credit, they're sold as sliders, and this was not a slide... My experience with the Mid-Atlantic terrain is that you don't have to be doing anything hardcore or heavy-footed in order to have something like this happen. That may not be the case out...

    Diesel JK

This ^^^. I was going to mention to the OP that in the US, if you're missing the manual (or don't want to go out to the car to get it), you can find a digital copy at http://jeep.com/owners, but I don't see a way to pull up manuals for non-US models. Oh well.

Nothing (on the first five pages of results) links to anyone who has had a personal experience regarding insurance and exceeding gvwr.

    AEV Jeep Conversions...

If the following weights are correct (I found them on http://www.automobile-catalog.com), then with the exception of the Kaiser CJ-5, it seems likely that most Jeeps modified in the last 40+ years exceeded their stock GVWR. GVWR CURB PAYLOAD CAP 3750 2273 1477 1967...

    AEV Jeep Conversions...

YJ, huh? OK, so only the last three decades of Jeeps then. LOL What's even sadder (to me) is to see virtually every Jeep from the "era" you're fondly referring to having to be towed to off-road parks because hardly anybody wants to drive them on-road at interstate speeds for hours. Hard to...

    AEV Jeep Conversions...

The majority of Jeeps have always been mall-crawlers. Period. What's different today (for the people that aren't mall-crawlers) is that Jeep now makes a vehicle (the Wrangler Unlimited) that can go off-road as well as be a decent family vehicle. I highly doubt many people would ever pile a...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

I've seen a few photos where people appear to have enough equipment stacked in that area that it looks like they'd be hard to see out of them. At $250 each, if you're not going to make use of them, I guess it makes sense to skip them.

    Stock JKUR wheels?

There are folks in the club I wheel with running 35x12.5x17s on the stock JK wheels, but IIRC they're also running Spidertrax wheel spacers to accommodate the extra width. Otherwise they'd rub.

I was thinking hoist too. Wasn't sure if the J30 had a weight distribution awkward enough to make using a hoist unreasonable.

Does anyone take their J30 on/off on a semi-regular basis? My JK is my DD, and a lot of the fun for me for having a JK in Virginia is driving around in the summer with the soft-top down and the doors off. I'm very interested in starting to do some overland exploring (and would love to have a...

Do you have a JK? If so, which engine/transmission type (auto/manual)? There are some charts floating around that show the effect of tire/gear size.

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

The OEM top is three separate pieces - the back piece (that stops at the roll bar) and the two "Freedom Panels" pieces that sit over the driver and passenger. From reading the thread here, the UM top is one solid piece that runs from the back all the way to the windshield. Doesn't sound like...
