    Traveling with a dog

I have a Kurgo dog seat cover for the back bench seat of my truck. Covers the back of the back seat, seat of the back seat, and back of the front seats, and prevents the pup from just popping out on the center console and giving g me directions. And he goes in his Kurgo Tru Fit harness, and the...

    Folding saw

I find these a little overly complicated for a simple hand saw, but I've seen them. They do work. And kudos for US made. May pick one up on general principle

    Folding saw

I'm not knocking the Silky saws. But honesty, there is no need to overspend here. I love Japanese steel, have some real good Spydercos, but honestly, its not a matter of "special ops" tree branch cutting - it's a hand saw to cut 4 inch sapling size wood. I used to have an old curved (Corona...

    GMT800: 1/2T vs 3/4T for towing duty

3/4 ton plain and simple. If you have read many posts here about towing, you would know that. I have a 2014 k1500 and its tow capacity if up around 9.5k pounds, but no way would I consider towing that amount regularly. Probably get away with it a few times but why? Just to prematurely...

Does 1k lbs make a difference?

The bigger question, why'd it take 16 posts to get to the point? You could have gotten more useful answers much sooner if you had given some details. We're a pretty helpful group here, so feel free to described what you are up to and I bet you get tons of helpful replies

New guy with a couple questions.

Slide in camper that's only 500 pounds? What kind is that? My Leer camper shell is near the 200 pound range

New guy with a couple questions.

Not having either of your specific setups, but having been cross country and camped out of a 10 year old half ton GMC with a Leer shell on it, and having leveled it prior to putting the Leer cap on, I am betting that 2008 era springs and shocks would need replacement just on general principle...

    2003 Suburban ABS delete

Dont know for the life of me why you would want to. Just get stainless lines and if need be, every 6 months or a year, coat them with motor oil or something. Before the mid 1990's, we were all taught to pump the brakes when slowing or stopping on ice. Under those conditions, just slamming on...

    1975 F250 Highboy Crewcab 4x4 Project

When I was a kid, my father had a '78 Ford F150. Or maybe it was and F100. They might have even been called Explorer back then. 2 wheel drive, 8 foot bed, single cab, metallic forest green. We logged a lot and beat the shiite out of that truck. Not a Hight Boy by any stretch but that's what...

Truck shell - Driving with the back window open

I've opened mine for yard work on the weekend, closed the tailgate when done, and driven 60 highway miles to work the following Monday without realizing it Pool noodle along the bottom edge and tie down onto whatever sticks out is as good a solution as any. I've done something like that too

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire...

Only $1200 per set? Sign me up. I had gotten a quote last year for similarly sized Falken Wilpeaks that was closer to $1700 a set. Ran Michilin LTX on my 1994 GMT400 Chevy Blazer Silverado 2-door 5.7 liter. Never lost grip. Ok, TWICE I lost grip out of 8 years. Total rainstorm going down...

Outstanding video comparing wide versus narrow tires

New England wintahs you will not see wides on any truck hired as a snow plow. All pizza cutters. Tall, somewhat on the narrow side, with good tread on a 4x4, usually diesel. Had a landscaper who got the snowplow contract for a building I was in. Showed up in a Tundra. That's not bad all by...

F150 bed rack / topper options?

For me the advantage of a hard topper and rack combo were that I could put kayaks, ladders, rooftop luggage or whatever up on top, leaving the bed free for a home built sleep platform system (6 1/2 foot bed) that allowed totes of clothes, food or gear under. Taking my tonneau off allowed all...
