    Custom camper friendly truck bed..

I'd like to deck the bed in 3/4" ply of some sort. I'm not really a wood guy though so I'm open to suggestions on what type. I just want something easy to replace when it gets beat up and easy to remove when I want to get at all the usually hard-to-reach stuff under the truck.

    Custom camper friendly truck bed..

I don't WANT it too, just figure it will once I add the boxes and bedsides. I was thinking just a spring-mount also. I'm glad you had the same thought. You're one of my ExPo "build heroes" so your input means a lot.

    Custom camper friendly truck bed..

Progress! Not as much as I wanted, but got pretty close. I just didn't quite make it to the fenders this weekend. I'll get the fenders made up, floor (marine plywood) installed, and camper tie-downs made up this week. You know, probably. With the amount of flex, I'm thinking I'll also do a...

    Custom camper friendly truck bed..

Ok, here goes. I put the bed on craigslist and ordered up 3"x0.25" angle and 2x2x0.125" square aluminum to start the build this weekend. http://salem.craigslist.org/pts/5616322044.html I'm planning to get the base or frame of the bed and what will be the inner fenders done this weekend so...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

I also scored a set of seats off Ebay while looking for just a center console.. These were a bit more than just a console, but they're a serious upgrade over my stock bench. Aftermarket leather, powered and heated driver side. Also not totally worn out from 170k miles of sitting in them like my...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

Forgot to post the solution.. Transfer case crossmember bolts on the pass. side were just a hair loose. Loose isn't even right. They just weren't quite tight enough.. That fixed the noise anyway. Turns out the noise and the steering were totally unrelated. I actually had the centering bolt in...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

Ok, so update two- I just replaced ball joints, tie rod ends, CV shafts, control arm bushings, sway bar links, and wheel bearings chasing a clunk. 170k they were all due anyway. Still haven't located the clunk- sort of a binding/popping from someplace up front. I had it professionaly aligned...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

No klunk with a dry steer. Only when moving.. I sucked the control arm bolts pretty hard with my airgun, but I'll definitely go over them again. I read online somebody had fixed the i-shaft clunking with zip ties, but wasn't sure exactly how. I just looked under the dash behind the wheel where...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

Sooo... Update on this- I've literally replaced everything I can think of in the front end- Axles, Ball Joints, Control arm bushings, Tie-rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm, sway bar links and bushings, wheel bearings. And I've still got the noise. Hasn't changed at all. Maybe a little WORSE. I...

2005 Silverado 6.0L, heading to Argentina.

Hey guys, I've got a weird noise coming from under my truck... When I'm steering onto a highway or driving around a parking lot I get a clunking popping noise that sound like it's coming from underneath in the front end. Seems to be more prevalent when turning left and if I had to guess it's...

The cost of big tires - Is it worth it?

Like many above, I'm a big fan of larger tires under the smallest lift possible. If you want to do much moderate to serious off road in a big American truck, you'll probably need tires big enough to get you some extra clearance and with enough capacity to air down comfortably. Most full size...

    On Board Welders?

Not a huge range, but 20-75 amps seems reasonably adjustable.
