    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Salespeople at local LR dealerships must have been trained to talk people out of rear lockers / HD packs. I had the same experience when shopping for the LR4, "Unless you are towing a really big boat the rear locking differential is a waste of money, the car is that good!" was pretty much the...

    New Defender News

That's kind of what they did, no? Restyled the LR4 with Defender design cues, dropped it on a (reinforced) RRS chassis, opened the wheel arches, dropped in the latest power trains, updated the infotainment system, improved the EAS system and gave it even more ginormous brakes. Other than the...

    New Defender News

Actually the P400 inline 6 should get marginally better gas mileage than the P300 4-cyl engine, surely due to its built-in mild hybrid EV technology. Recently released EPA estimates are 17 mpg city, 20 highway, 18 average/combined for the P300 and 17 city, 22 highway and 19 combined for the MHEV...

    Alpha Equipt Wheels for LR4

I don't see that size on Goodyear's web site (under Adventure with Kevlar, anyway), only see the 255/65R19 (the one for the new Defender): https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires/wrangler-all-terrain-adventure/sizes-specs Off topic, but speaking of 19" A/T tires, also check out Toyo, they recently...

    Alpha Equipt Wheels for LR4

I believe the optional 19" GY Duratracs for the new Defender (as well as its "standard" off-road tires, the Wrangler Adventure w/ Kevlar) are sized 255/65R19. At 32.2" in dia, you'd be pushing it by mounting them on a stock LR4, as there would likely be some noticeable rubbing. As Blaise said...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Do you know if those 18s are fitted on a P400 with the big(ger) brakes? That would be good news, since nothing smaller than 19" fits from the factory on that trim, you need to order the smaller engine to get 18" wheels. I kinda like the way those in the photo look, too. Sorry for the non raging...

Factory 19" fit on the 6-cyl as well. At least Goodyear came up with a couple of decently sized tires for them.

Brakes are different, per the brochure the fronts are 349 mm (twin piston) on the P300 and 363 mm dia. (4 piston) on the P400, while the rears are 325 and 350 mm dia. single piston, respectively. That's over 1/2" larger out front and a whole inch in the back, which makes me think the factory 18s...

    New Defender News

There's a plastic clear lens within the front black frame of the headlights cluster, it's flush with the bodywork. PS: I see what you mean, in some photos the lens definitely seems to be missing. Perhaps it photographs better that way.

    New Defender News

The D110 I had ordered in early February, originally scheduled for delivery here on the US West Coast in late May / early June (the expected build date was supposedly 4/3, but obviously that date came and went as the Nitra plant shut down in mid-March) is now rescheduled for delivery in early...

    New Defender News

I am not so sure you'd get Goodyears (at least not the Duratracs pictured above) when ordering from the factory. They have two levels of off-road tires you can option on a new Defender, a standard one in lieu of the all-season tires fitted at the factory, and an "extreme" off-road tire that can...

LR4 18" tire size and i really apologize for starting a new tire thread.

It depends on the rims you pick. Factory 18" rims don't exist for NAS LR4s, as the front brake calipers are too large. You could use factory 18" rims off a LR3 or 1st gen RRS with spacers (2.5", I believe), or aftermarket alloys such as the Compomotive PD1881 without them. The tire size you are...

    2019 LR Discovery SVX

With those specs, and especially that engine and SV badge, this "handbuilt" Disco is probably gonna end up at $90K, perhaps more. It could make history as the first $100K Disco ever! It's going to take balls to off-road it, that's for sure.

2006 LR3 traction control engaging around corners

My old 2006 Sport stated behaving similarly as the tires were getting worn. Are yours in good shape or will you need a new set soon? As Alex pointed out, also check tire pressure to make sure it is within specs and the same across each axle.

2017 Discovery drive..Land Rover is getting back to its old self again!

As an overland vehicle, the much greater range (from the diesel engine in particular) should be a plus compared to the LR3/4s, which have always been heavy, thirsty vehicles with relatively tiny fuel tanks.

Advice on tire size for LR4 with 19" rims

On the premiere issue of Alloy+Grit there was a 1-page ad from Atturo Tires showing off their Trail Blade M/T tire sized 255/55R19, for newer Land Rovers with 19" wheels. If you've never heard of Atturo... neither have I. The tire does look fairly aggressive (considering the dearth of choices in...

    265/50-20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2

That's just a tad larger than stock at about 30.5" in diameter, so it should fit without issues or modifications, as a running wheel or as a spare under the car (without deflating it.)
