New GM Tranny Class Action Suit, Tempest in a Teapot, Or…?

The problem with the GM 8-speeds is extremely noticeable and I would say fairly common. Over on Coloradofans, there are countless pages of posts on them. In general though, this lawsuit is focused on a very specific behaviour from what I understand, and that is a slipping torque converter (they...

    INEOS Grenadier

I understand that "E Locker" in this context is "Electronic Locker" meaning they use an electronic servo to engage and disengage the locker. Might even be magical magnets involved. I thought the lockers were Eaton, but I haven't been able to find a source that 100% confirms why I think that. But...

Risks of buying a new Grenadier

I mostly agree with you but I don't think this vehicle is meant to be a third vehicle. It will be my only vehicle, and that's because it can do a lot of things. And if I am unable to use the vehicle for a week because of a sensor malfunction, then Ineos has failed on their quest regardless of...

Risks of buying a new Grenadier

Glass = flat and designed to be replaced at any tractor shop that can cut glass. Way more easily replaceable than most modern 4x4s with the exception of the Wrangler which uses the same design or the same reason (at least originally; these days the reason is more likely about staying true to an...

    Ineos Grenadier Review Thread

In the interests of balance, here's another review with less stellar praise. However, the complaints that this author has identified are something that we've discussed at length over on TheIneosForum.com, and the conversation seems to be that depending on where a reviewer is from (and the use...

    Ineos Grenadier Review Thread

Lots of reviews are going live on the Gren these days. I daresay...I think they've nailed it. https://www.driven.co.nz/reviews/ineos-grenadier-first-drive-old-school-cool/?utm_source=nzh&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=nzh-home Quote the conclusion: Feel free to post up other reviews in...

    INEOS Grenadier

Thanks Will; I didn't know that but always glad to learn more! I came across them a couple of years ago when I was looking for long range tank for my GM Canyon but didn't pursue it further. Interesting to learn how different the LR4 is worldwide by the sounds of it. I agree with you on the...

    New Defender News

Jokes aside, this section: is interesting to me. A blocked oil channel forcing oil past a membrane seems to only be part of the problem; what moving parts were starved of lubrication because of that blocked channel, if any? It's effecting about 2% of annual production based on my napkin math...

Thinking of buying a Winnebago Revel van. Talk me out of it?

Some fantastic advice in this thread so far. I have a few suggestions for you, Silentwinter, put in-line below; I do not have direct experience with this model RV but I have been fulltime in an RV for 5 months now. This will be a risk no matter what rig you buy, but some of the YouTube vanlife...

    Ineos Grenadier Sub Forum

Agreed, SkiWill. It’s fun to speculate about specs and such as we’ve been doing, but I agree with what you’ve said and have no reason not to trust the engineers at ZF/Ineos. They know their stuff it would seem.

    Ineos Grenadier Sub Forum

Cheers to your whole post, but in particular in this section --You're speaking my language here! It's one of my biggest gripes of most 4x4s for sale - they don't share the specs. Wading depth, roof loads, etc. are hard to find, but imo the info should be on the window stickers on every new 4x4...

Maybe. I don't know specifically what changes they made, but from Wikipedia: The suggestion of electric compatibility is interesting to me - they are very heavy vehicles, and tend to put out a lot of torque. But, I just don't know enough to know what the actual differences are, other than...

    Ineos Grenadier Sub Forum

I don’t think they are glassing over much — they have a fair bit of information on their web page. They’ve also been doing a number of web series, some with more info than others, on the development journey and why they made the decisions they did. Scott’s impressions of the vehicles mirror more...

    INEOS Grenadier

Long Range America (that might be who you meant by LRA) and Titan Tanks are both US-based large tank manufacturers. For me it's a bit of a coin flip in North America for Jerry Cans vs larger tanks in my opinion. A larger tank is a constant weight that is always with you, on a continent where...

While I agree with your overall sentiment - show us the specs (and they have - more in a moment) - but I'm not so sure about that logic on the trans, Nick. The transmission going into the Grenadier is the 3rd gen version of ZF's rear-drive platform; the second gen of the same kit was used in all...

Looking for better payload truck (getting rid of Ram Rebel)

I didn't know that about the HDPP - thanks Stevo! So a caveat - I'm a roof-tent guy, and can do a tent in -30 celcius. My full time living situation is one of the Elkharts towables right now, and my vacations are in the tent. My definition of "good enough for at rip" might be a lot different...

Looking for better payload truck (getting rid of Ram Rebel)

As far as I know Ford is the only manufacturer that offers a heavy duty payload package on their 1/2 ton trucks. Trucks without that package are much closer to the payload you have identified. I had a fullsize Chevy 1500 WT with only a 1900 lbs payload (and it was a bare-bones truck; not a lot...

    Production numbers

.....but how will you look "Expo Chic" if you don't have at least two jerry cans on your roof rack? Jokes aside I agree with you that a built in tank is a better bet. There's two options on the Gren that have been speculated about; the first is a muffler relocation/redesign would free up a lot...

Looking for better payload truck (getting rid of Ram Rebel)

Thanks Todd - I googled the HDPP number but I'm sure the one I got was for a single cab short bed 2WD or something; it makes sense the supercrew with 4x4 would be a bit less than that 'ideal' number. A fully kitted Alucab canopy comes in at 550 lbs, so that leaves a useful payload of 1700-1900...
