    Pause overland trailer

Another "off road" trailer rolling out before they are ready to give us any real details about how they are built and what they are capable of. The guy that did the video has a habit over the years of overhyping every trailer that is released and claims to be off road capable. Most of them have...

And in camp too. I'm always amazed at the extensive awning systems they advertise in these trailers. The winds in the desert SW are even heavy enough to rip up an awning before you can take it down. One of those huge batwing awnings would probably fly a hundred miles away in the CO wind or the...

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

You're funny. We're fulltimers and boondock 365 days a year. The last time we plugged into the grid was over nine years ago. Our rig is way too small for a Lazy Boy chair AND two big retrievers, so we skipped the recliner. I was trying to josh with you, but I guess I left out the emoji. ?

C'mon, it's never too windy to cook outside! Just like there's always a shady side of the trailer, there's also always a lee side. My portable outdoor kitchen (the old reliable Weber grill) is always ready and willing to relocate to whichever side of the trailer is wind free.

    High Altitude Trailer XT 105

I had a friend who used to say that the best off road vehicle you could drive is the one you don't own.

    High Altitude Trailer XT 105

I know it's mean, but I do enjoy seeing photos like that! People try to take their road princess rigs where they shouldn't and end up paying for it. I can guarantee you that any trailer being discussed on this forum that is under 10,000lbs GVWR and had an independent suspension like the Cruise...

I'm not disparaging the Kimberleys at all. When I was researching them it was David Bates who told us in a zoom call that they should be considered a 3 1/2 season trailer at best. Any trailer can be retrofitted to stand freezing weather better. We're just in the market for trailers that without...

    High Altitude Trailer XT 105

More tactically capable...nice. I'm going to have to appropriate that terminology!

    Imperial Outdoors Xplore XR22

Where's the FB post on this? So far they have just played fast and loose with the pricing for all these models with no explanations. That's typically a sign of new product pricing based on what the marketing department thinks the customer will pay rather than what manufacturing and finance have...

    High Altitude Trailer XT 105

That's right, the primary obstacle with a larger trailer is ground clearance, width and height. Width and height aren't often an issue in the desert SW. I think people here tend to equate "overlanding" with "off roading". We've traveled quite far off paved roads and then off the dirt/gravel...

    Kingdom Camping Trailers

OK, I get it. The two wheel ATS comes in at around 4,100lbs dry. There's a lot of weight between 1,500lbs and 4,100lbs. We've never made decisions based on trailer weight before. We've always looked for what performance we needed from a trailer and then matched the tow vehicle to the final...

    Kingdom Camping Trailers

When I read that Kimberly owners are advised to drive down the road with their heating systems on because they might hit 30 degree temperatures along the way, I immediately rule those trailers out (unless you exclusively camp and travel when it's well above freezing). We don't seek out cold...

    Kingdom Camping Trailers

That's funny. We had to talk them into making a larger, four wheel, model for the first time because everything they make is too small for us! The Adventure Pro Mini has a dry weight of 1,500lbs and could be optioned at an even lower weight if you skipped things like the roof rack. How small are...

    Rover Off Road

There you go again. Confusing everyone here with higher quality options at lower prices than the choice they were already about to go with. Enough already. Allow us to make bad decisions and overpay for our trailers!

We're the same way. We pride ourselves on never running a generator and never plugging into the grid. But we pay dearly for it in our electrical/solar system!

Are there any specific brands of portable two burner induction cooktops you would recommend? We're looking at going that direction with our next trailer rather than having a fixed, built in cooktop (portable is much more flexible on space and replacement is easier when they fail). Thanks!

    Kingdom Camping Trailers

We boondock at our tree farm in north Idaho for about half the year and then spend the other half traveling the western states (ID, MT, WY, NM, UT, NV, AZ). This year will primarily be Utah before we end up in AZ. For the past few winters we've been spending more and more time in AZ. Either in...

    Kingdom Camping Trailers

You would be shocked at the places we've been able to get a 31', 18,000 lb 5th wheel into without doing any damage to the trailer ( it has a very well engineered steel frame). It has an independent suspension, but it's the MorRyde rubber spring with one shock per tire system, nothing near as...

    Kingdom Camping Trailers

We should come in with about a 20' box and 25' hitch to end of spare tire (we'll have a big storage box on the front as well). It's "downsizing" for us since we've been boondocking in a 31' 5th wheel for 10 years. We want something more off road capable, but we're not overlanders. We just want...

Good point. If there is a continuous sheet of insulation on the outside of the studs and then again on the inside of the studs, that should be about as effective as you can get. Filling the studs with additional insulation shouldn't give you any real bump up in thermal bridging.
