This seems a little short of your normal sharp analysis- @Red90 is right, the trucks you are referring to are overseen by top mechanics, hand built, broken down after each race and rebuilt etc.. not sure how much correlation there is to a daily driven vehicle and certainly not much correlation...

....And says that the front IFS is weaker and is a negative for overlanding ......he doesn't say this, but a reasonable conclusion would be that's X's 2 for the Defender with it's front and rear IFS.

I thought we'd gotten past all of the name-calling- it's unfortunate to see you devolve the conversation. I think your better than that Blaise- I hope you are enjoying Montana in your comfy LR!

So true! With the 4runner and the Land Cruiser both due for a significant redesign it'd be great to see them really knock it out of the park.

Ok, let's say they have 60% attrition of those early deposits- that's still selling 80,000 Broncos..... the equivalent of 2/3rds of the highest record Jaguar/Land Rover has ever sold across all models for a single year-- and that's just one Ford model. My point is that there's a lot of people...

It's crazy- no doubt there will be some attrition, but even if it's as high as say 30%- that's still over 140,000 Broncos sold and you've only been able to reserve one for about 2 weeks now. That's incredible- I love what that will do for the 4x4 market..... aftermarket companies will flourish...

18 Month Wait for Bronco- demand is overwhelming Ford Insiders say they've taken over 200,000 reservations thus far, but I'm sure they should have just watered it down and regurgitated the Ford Everest- there's just No Market for an enthusiast-driven 4x4...

No, but if I was really into food I would go to a food-based enthusiast community and if there was a thread dedicated specifically to complaining about that particular restaurant I'd add a comment. You do understand Blaise that you choose to come to ExPo- then you choose to come to this...

Other than the 1 time I misremembered an article I read and said that the Defender's in Namibia had larger tires than stock, please enlighten me as to the actual facts about the function of the Defender you've corrected me on. I'd love for you to contribute actual facts to the conversation or at...

    - I'm OK with the fact that the Benz has much better reliability than the LR - I'm OK with the fact that the Jeep JLU rides substantially better on the road than previous Jeeps- I have no idea if you've driven one, but basically every review raves about how much better it is. And again, while I...

You are setting up a false dichotomy- I don't have to choose between old-war wagons and a modern luxury sedan with a lift kit- the vehicles below are modern, comfortable, powerful and safe- I don't even have to imagine what that vehicle could be- they already exist- If I want more luxury...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

As long as my Defender rides better on the asphalt I don't care that it's less capable, more unreliable, has less aftermarket support, costs more, and is an almost total departure from the very things that made it an icon in the first place- it rides better and LR says it's a Defender, so it's a...

You are confusing me with someone else- I have no issue with published tow ratings. My simple point is that you were hyping it up that the Max tow rating is such a big deal for the LR- I'm just asking the question of how many people are exceeding or even getting near their max tow rating for a...

What you are failing to grasp from that entire conversation is that the Defender's Max Tow capability is being touted as a big win..... I asked a practical point to refute that this is such a win- namely- how many people while overlanding and backcountry adventuring are actually towing that much...

If what you really want is a Swiss Army Knife- Wouldn't this be at least as good or even better than most any modern LR product? - It's as small as an Evoque, but has more storage room - You can tow with it - It's already got any modern LR beat in aftermarket accessories

Exactly- I really don't understand his analogy ...Is the Camper going overlanding? .....what do I know, I'm just the disingenuous guy who he's repeatedly told to shut up all while he's never bothered to refute anything I say with actual facts.

I'm responding to the back and forth about the Defender's max tow capacity using it as a tow vehicle and I'm putting forth the question of how often are people maxing out tow capacity anyway while overlanding, In the example you are giving the Jeep/Defender is being towed, not the one doing...
