GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

The factory seat mounts have changed over the years, 2003 brought a bunch of model changes and later some passenger safety rules changed some seat and driver side door availability. Here are the only pic's I have saved of a GM Van floor......My 2013 passenger van and what I think is a 2004...

Road to SEMA, A 90 day build ROUND 2

Yup, pure GM VanPorn.........................Dreaming of a 3-4" IFS lift with Air-Bumps for the H chassis vans...................... Thumbs up on the factory windows choice, they blend in to the body nice..........

Odd sound coming from Chevy Express @ highway speeds?

The roof on these vans can make some weird noises and vibes, booming Etc... I put a crossbar on my roof with no fairing and at certain speeds and wind conditions it did some weird stuff, almost spooky to your senses and that was with a headliner. GM has had an issue with the high strength steel...

'Ruby' the big red GMC Savana!

TeleSteve, I am glad you weighed in on the O/S details it gives people a great example of O/S and fitment, and in the absence of a spec sheet you can still flip a rim over grab a piece of scrap straight edge and ruler and get pretty close with old school B/S measurements too. With my original...

GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

Just stop by the local dealer and measure the height of a new van, they don't have a new 1/2 ton though. If your tires are 265's remember they will have 245's so adjust your numbers when you figure, you only get half the lift of the tire diameter increase and "1/2 of the axle tube diameter...

2003 savana 1500 awd with explorer conversion package

What if you just go by the fact it has a Raised Roof and AWD ?......Making it a great choice for a back country camping van, rear A/C Heat? Doors on both sides? Probably..... Look at all the effort or cost it takes to put that roof on a van, look at all the effort it takes to build some kind of...

'Ruby' the big red GMC Savana!

You are right about the offset but when you change wheel width that gets added into the math also, so adding half (.75) of the 1.5" wider wheel is your 1.69 + .75 = 2.44" and if your tire is wider add half of that to. Speaking in offset is proper, it is what the important suspension angles are...

'Ruby' the big red GMC Savana!

Nice way to jump into the van world, great looking AWD 1500 Van !!!!!! Kudos on grabbing a passenger van and making it your own, you can cut the interior plastic and blend it in for nice clean and tidy look, even if the only amount left is a little sliver around the edge. I wanted factory...

GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

My 2013 AWD 1500 Pass van came with the white keys stock, # 15592574...18 degrees...I had alot of bolt sticking out at stock height and could have got some lift, my alignment guy said I might not have needed the aftermarket keys with my new torsion bars. I have found out that AWD 1500 Van...

    GM IFS 4x4 conversion

I remember that photo and very few parts are custom, it helped me feel better about owning such a rare Van and look into one of their conversions. The AWD 1/2 ton caught my eye after a test drive though, a lifted GM 3500 Quigley is still on my bucket list. If I remember right U-joint chimed in...

2014 Express AWD cargo van PNW 4 season camper

Eye to center pin......Some springs don't have the center pin in the center so the dimensions are called out, instead of total length. Some people could refer to the 60" spring as a 30" spring as slang..........

    Lift options Gmc Savana

24-024815 is a Bilstein stock replacement GM 1/2 ton Van HD 4600 rear shock valved at 361-68 and it is only 20.9" long, so are you lifting your van? 24-221948 is 23.23" long and valved at 389-73, the choices are few............24-185615 is not a good choice it's valved WRONG, it just happens...

2014 Express AWD cargo van PNW 4 season camper

The 92-99 Suburban rear leaves are 60" so the 64" truck springs won't work on a GM Van, but you can mix single leaves all you want. The 2000 and up Suburban springs are 60" but have the wrong bushing on one end, so they don't bolt in.

    GMC 1500 AWD Van

HIR2 9012 low beam, HIR1 9011 high beam......Candlepower forum talks at length about them and they seem to be a legal upgrade according to their experts, a rare blessing for an upgrade. The 9005 and 9006 bulbs in your van are in many other vehicles and they will benefit also, the vans...

Road to SEMA, A 90 day build ROUND 2

I just wanted to give a much needed aftermarket mfg some ideas, I do like your bumper and other work on the van so far you are an artist. Those of us without a 4" lift and 35" tires could use a little help out back when using our GM vans on forest roads, and it could help them get off their...

Road to SEMA, A 90 day build ROUND 2

I meant a 2" receiver tube up between the frame rails, it can be made as stout as you want it's OK with me, I would use it for a portable winch mount. The normal below frame hitches are rated for proper heavy towing they just kill departure angles, if I hauled a 10,000lb trailer that is what I...

Road to SEMA, A 90 day build ROUND 2

Sure could gain ALOT of clearance getting rid of the factory receiver hitch, a simple strong 2" tube between the frame rails? AWD vans don't tow 10,000 lbs and might like a bumper hitch tow point with some offroad clearance help....Maybe another version just for offroad clearance without the...

2014 Express AWD cargo van PNW 4 season camper

AWD Van torsion bar ratings FYI I have the same 54" XS #15750719 and 20 torsion bars on my AWD Pass van, I suspect they are near 7300lb on the rating. I could not find the info on the XS in our vans a few years ago. It looks like going slightly heavier like I did on the back is not and option...
