    Lift options Gmc Savana

I know Readylift makes some nice steel blocks, your springs are 2 1/2" wide any brand steel will work, make sure they are not tapered just flat. Some blocks advertise lift, make sure it is a 2" block not a 2" lift, it has to do with removing the factory blocks I mentioned, you cant stack them...

    Input -Van,Full Size or other

As a daily driver? The AWD Van gets at least 15 and 17 easily on the open road in the wind, hills, even at 70 mph, truck and Jeep not even close. It fits in any parking spot and most likely will blend in in any parking lot. Time behind the wheel is painless, just did 1000 miles straight thru and...

    Lift options Gmc Savana

I would stay away from aluminum lift blocks, even high quality aluminum. They will be sandwiched between two iron surfaces causing galvanic issues, steel blocks are easy enough to find so there is no good reason to do it. 88-99 4x4 1/2 tons used a 1 1/8" block stock, 99-up used a 7/8" block...

    Input -Van,Full Size or other

I certainly have been there, we camped out of a hardside camper on a 4x4 dually for decades (still have it), we went back to a Jeep LJ and top quality tent to smell the flora and fauna so to speak, people buy RV's so big they block out the sun. We found amazing back country camping but hardly...

    Extra Tall Options

Sound like a Suburban is on you radar they are great, some of your comments are exactly where my head was. I was ready to buy a 3/4 ton suburban until I started the comparing spec sheets. My AWD 1500 Van is an inch or two shorter, has almost the same drivetrain as any GM 1500, is only a little...

I have so many questions, don't know where to start!

The fact you mention the lightest bed possible could put you in the right mindset for a lighter AWD GM 1500, they have around 2000lb to work with. Finding a raised roof AWD conversion van is one of the easiest ways to get into Rad camping spots, you can camp day one and tweak things as needed...

Tire Preference .... need some opinions.

I thought Ford set the price point and Firestone met the goal, making the tire only meet performance criteria when properly inflated. Most tires will handle some poor treatment by the end user and that specific OEM tire left minimal wiggle room and was not sold retail to the public. I thought...

Regretting my layout and sofa bed ,uuuugh

Great advice, the weight will probably make the chassis dynamics better such as more rear braking and less top heavy and of course the ride. The 50/50 weight balance sports car guys strive for works for everybody, the closer the better even if a van will most likely never get there, every little...

Tire Preference .... need some opinions.

As always I dont mind helping you out if I have good info... yes a D load range tire is also better than a P tire, I had a set of goodyear GSA in D that held 3000lbs at 65 psi a great tire. Most D tires are rated at 65 psi and E are load rated at 80psi, LT tires pick up way less nails and screws...

    Johny5's stealth camper van

Quigley does 4x4 those GM box trucks with some restrictions, I agree about a good choice for home built camper. I would however like a straight axle like most people and love Jonnys vans.

Tire Preference .... need some opinions.

Just remember your AWD drivetrain will self destruct if you put a smaller size spare tire on the van, the locking diff and transfer case both will be mad at you, how long it would take?. The same size tire in different brands can very in diameter and revs per mile, more than one would think. A...

Tire Preference .... need some opinions.

I just want him to have all the info before he chooses, and some of us have the same van and have made the switch he is asking about. While you're math is right, in the real world the steering and handling is a huge leap for the better. The van is heavy and tall so at 70 mph on a congested...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

Looking good! You were one of the early awd vans here glad to see you lift it. Studded tires! I cant imagine how unstoppable that awd van is, literally it must be amazing in the snow and ice. Winter is where these vans leave even some 4 wheel drives wondering why they cant follow a normal van...

Tire Preference .... need some opinions.

P rated tires are for light weight vehicles, your van weighs 5300lbs empty. To be simplistic if you are on this website you will use your van in ways that make a P rated tire a bad choice. They are cheaper and softer and quieter, LT tire is stronger, handles better lasts longer and is safer. The...

Road to SEMA, A 90 day build ROUND 2

You guys are awsome, don't worry we lurk and drool...... BTW I like to tear into them early too, Jeep got a lift at 36 miles, my AWD Van got bigger tires at 4 miles........ I have been pretty set on a GM Quigley with their lift drop shipped local, we are just not ready yet. Please show me the...

    GM van rear axle questions

Up until around 2003 a one ton almost always had a 10.5" full floater, on a full float axle you have to pull the axle shafts to get the drum off unless it has disk brakes which is a newer thing. A full float axle with disc brakes is better than sliced bread, I dream of discs on a full floater...

    riNR AWD Chev Combi-Van

AWD VAN LIFT Right now one of the few lift methods for the GM AWD 1500 Van is some Torsion lift keys and longer front shocks like Bilstein 5100 #24-186643 made for key lift's, the AWD Van front suspension lift stuff all interchanges with a 99-06" 1/2 ton GM P/U SUV. The 99-06" rear shocks in...

    Berts-AWD Express

I really like the bumper could be my favorite so far, nice looking van......... I am curious which rear shocks you used, most 5100's that fit the rear of a GM van are valved for a completely different vehicle or way to long for a 2-3" lift. I looked at part number 24-185615 but Bilstein said...

    Locker on Chevy Express 3500?

Your van either has a Dana 60 or a GM 14 bolt with a 10.5" or 9.5" ring gear, it could be a semi or full float axle so it is hard say what to put in it. Post some axle pics and we can help, diff cover and wheel hub..... The factory GOV-Lock does work and is a locker when engaged, I have had a...
