    Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

Installed the winch over the weekend it’s an open road 13k, don’t think I could have built the bumper any better if I had the winch to build around. I put a strain on my crappy welds and nothing broke. I put my ‘22 superduty (company truck) in 4wd low put the transmission in neutral and locked...

    Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

About 65 mph it gets a slight whine. I was hoping that I would get it but for my first gear setup reusing old gears it’s not as bad as I expected. Hopefully when I move up to 37s and swap in 4.88s I can setup the new gears to run quite.

Yes wheel seal leaking I thought I had ripped it putting the axle in but it’s leaking around the seal at the housing. I started to put rtv around the seal when installing them, wish I would have now.

The winch I decided to go with is the @openroad4wd winch13k lb. I tested fitted it and I will need to relocate the control box, I did this while I was thinking about the gears I was setting up and waiting for someone to guide me on the interwebs. From multiple people I should have just bought...

    Any cheapo welder reviews/experience?

The yes welder I bought has been great. It can be used it with gas and stick, it has a tig option as well. My welding skills are not the best. But it’s rated to weld 3/8”. The only thing I don’t like is that all measurements are metric.

    Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

Not much this weekend tacked the track bar bracket on. Waiting on parts for Barnes 4wd before I finish welding it up. Gm 9.5 diff cover from undercover fabworks came in and I smoothed the lower portion of the housing down, took a 3/8” lip off the bottom. Also received my diff rebuild kit from...

    Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

Got the brake baking plate mounts and some of the brackets welded to the axle. Yes newer Tahoes and suburbans come with this axle already, kinda. The newer ones have smaller wheel bearings than this axle and the 4.10 ring and pinion from the 3/4 ton axle I have will not swap over the pinion...

Thanks, I appreciate it. I agree with Josh on keeping it simple bracket lifts are ehhh.... If you can find some torsion keys from a 97-03 F150 (oem keys) they will lift you about 3 inches and you can install hummer H2 conversion coils from rockauto and that will also lift the rear about 3" and...
