I found this old thread. Wanted to bump it as this is something I am seriously considering.
Per info in another thread, I have a '93 Ford F-350 4x4, 4 door and an '88 FWC Keystone (the big one). The truck has a steel flat bed and lift gate that need to come off anyway. Bought an aluminum flat...
I took a look at this tutorial. Seems pretty straightforward. 'Cept the most complex mechanical thing I ever did, with experienced help, was change the head gasket on my small block Chevy back in the late 70's. Also rebuilt a couple VW engines in the early 80's, again with experienced...
This thread is so downbeat. I read through it once when I first arrived here couple months ago. Started to look back through for the reason legal action was not possible. But got too depressed in the reading. Please say again why on earth you don't sue Phoenix? (I'm a small businessman...
Amen. In that price range, the condition matters more much more than the model. Especially a 4x4, 4 door? Any full size Ford, Chevy, Dodge in good mechanical shape at a good price should be grabbed. The really good deals aren't around long.
It's a manual shift case. Would love to see that tutorial. I'm wanting to attempt the tear down myself.
Not super knowledgable about alternators, guess I'll be learning. My regular mechanic put it on there for me. Pretty sure 150 amps will get it done, no?
Funny you mention it, I...
I promised some pics. This the unit as I acquired it. Note aluminum flat in back, purchased separately. Not 100% certain the bed's gonna work, but gotta get the steel bed and lift gate off. Also purchased a FWC camper from Pappawheely. (Thanks, again, Mike. It was kind of an impulse buy...
Nice to see all these little improvements up close. We just acquired an '88 FWC Keystone. It has many similar small issues, but overall seems pretty tight and right. Thanks.
Mike, I'm the new guy with the '93 F-350. Read through this thread. Great information. Did I miss something? You still got the old stock bed and camper?
Hey super04, muchas gracias. I am trying to understand what I need to do, then look for the means to do it. I would likely have it done at a shop, but who knows. Your offer to avail me of your resources and connections is generous indeed.
As for other's advice here, thanks to all. I am...
Beautiful feedback. I guess I'm not too much of a neophyte, as my first impression after looking at the undercarriage was that the front springs are way undersized. The tranny has 5 forward speeds, makes it a ZF-5, I assume. Not thinking about a power plant change anytime soon, want to get...
Thanks to all. I didn't think to post the pics as it's bone stock with a steel flat bed and lift gate. No much to see. YET. It is a 460. My regular mechanic is who sold it to me. He had maintained it for the original institutional owner for over ten years. He said he'd been through...
Hello all, I'm new here. Here's what I want to do. The rig's as stated above, with gas motor, standard stick shift 5 speed, steel 7' x 8' flat bed with lift gate. Single rear wheels. Totally stock. Super low miles. Got it at a fair price.
I'm looking for a mechanic with extensive off road...
