    NEW 2015 3/4t 4x4 pickup CHOICES/features/value/reviews/experiences/etc.

Perfect choice. I've been watching this thread, I was thinking you should get the one you ended up with. I've been in construction my whole life (born in '58), and whoever said 3/4 ton trucks are a way station on the trip to a 1 ton was spot on. 3/4 ton is not a situation to be in for the...

    Cost of an engine/transmission replacement?

I have a 2000 Chevy 1ton flat bed, small block V8. Needs new motor. I'm like the OP, not able to rebuild a motor myself, besides it's a fleet vehicle for my small landscape company. I don't work on those trucks, I have to focus on running the business. My mechanic, who runs a reliable West...

    F-350 winch selections

Would have to think a good snatch block is a mandatory component of the recovery gear in any preparedness situation. Along with the chains and loops and straps.

    F-350. Single vs. duallies

I ran the VIN through an online decoder. It was originally an SRW pick up 8 foot bed. Heavy duty suspension, solid front axle. Made in Canada. Got a lot of information on my truck. But none of it is unusual. I just don't know why it has no ID stickers of any kind. Somehow, it ended up at the...

    F-350 winch selections

Mike, may I ask which Warn winches you are running? Thanks all! I'm considering the M12000 as the minimum starting point. Front and rear. I figure, the more winch I buy, the less chance I'll ever use it.

    F-350 winch selections

Working out details on custom bed and camper mounting, etc. Coming to a consideration of Warn winches mounted to frame. Likely want front and rear. Which Warn 12,000 is needed? Seems a decent price swing between models. All advice greatly appreciated. Edit: M12000 v. VR12000 is the...

    F-350. Single vs. duallies

No. I have no desire to install DRW. Just wondering. Only 4x4s I've ever owned were Toyotas and Ford Rangers/Explorers. Only duallies I've had were full-on work trucks. For this Rat Camper thing singles are way better. Easier to change flats. Want to have two full size spares on rims...

    F-350. Single vs. duallies

Someone working on my truck commented I might have a rear axle that would accept DRW. How would I know this? I don't want to put dual rear wheels, I'm just wondering what it is that I have. There are no ID stickers, no door stickers, no glove box stickers, etc. I'm pretty sure that when it...

Should I buy a 97 F350 Crew Cab LB, would love your advice

I firmly believe that you did the right thing. Paying that much for a truck with that many miles? Not my kind of play.

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

To think the BBB is unbiased is wrong. They shill for the businesses that pay them an annual membership fee. Ask any small business person about the BBB's aggressive tactics. When you see their logo on websites, it should be a red flag. Legit shops won't pay their dues. Why would they? On...

Should I buy a 97 F350 Crew Cab LB, would love your advice

Just checking local Craigslist. I don't know how to post the link. Look under Orange County, California. There's a '89 F-350, 4 door, 4x4, gas, automatic, 60,000 miles. Wants $1500. Not everyone's type of project, but thought someone here might take a look.

Best of luck. They should have some room to move, price wise.

Should I buy a 97 F350 Crew Cab LB, would love your advice

Price seems very high for that much mileage. I've never said on these forums what I paid last December for my '93 F-350, 4x4, 4 door, 460gas, 5 speed manual, 46,000 original miles. Because I didn't think anybody would believe me. But it was less than a quarter of that. (Yes, real story!) I...

3/4ton and 1ton trucks, pivot frame needed/worth it?

I don't think frame failure is the main reason for a pivot frame. It's to keep from shredding the camper box, no?

3/4ton and 1ton trucks, pivot frame needed/worth it?

One of my regular runs is to Saline Valley. I have seen many full size hard side campers fail out there, one of my best friends included. He had never been there, I told him bringing the big Lance on his F-350 wasn't a good idea, IMHO....

3/4ton and 1ton trucks, pivot frame needed/worth it?

Bumped this thread as it's right where I am at. Although this thread seems disjointed. Has anyone tried this and failed? Thought about it and abandoned the idea? Anyone know someone in Southern California who could do this type of fab work?
