    F-350 winch selections

In the end we went with the Warn ZEON 12000#. It seemed like the middle selection. Hope to not really need it too much.

    Flat bed pop-up or not?

I was told quite recently that FWC isn't making flat bed shell models at this time.

To super duty or not super duty....that is my question..

I said this somewhere else in this forum, but it bears repeating here. Whoever said that "a 3/4 ton truck is a stop-off on the journey to a 1 ton truck" was spot on. I would not even think of anything less.

F-350 2 full size spares on the cabin roof

Found this. Could some well placed snatch block attachment points be added to use the front winch to raise spares up onto this thing? My DD is a one ton utility bed with a full length pipe rack......

F-350 2 full size spares on the cabin roof

After excessive pondering of this design issue, here are my thoughts. It's likely a major PITA to get them on and off the roof. Read through many threads here and elsewhere, it seems many had 'em up there and hated it. MPG is an issue? (If that was really a deal breaker, wouldn't have an...

F-350 2 full size spares on the cabin roof

Wow! that's the way to do it. I will look into that further.

Rubber mat between the camper and truck?

That's the one we'll use. Our footprint is 4' x 9-11' depending on final configuration. So 2 will do the job perfecto. Thank you.

F-350 2 full size spares on the cabin roof

Mike, you know how long that FWC Keystone is. I hadn't thought to put them there, but I'm thinking I want to keep the overall length as short as possible.

F-350 2 full size spares on the cabin roof

I guess I'm strong enough, but I'm also 5'6". I'm sure I could get it up there by myself if I had to, but thinking out alternatives. Another thread talked about climbing up and throwing them off, then possibly storing the flat in the camper till someone is there to help. It's got a pop-up...

F-350 2 full size spares on the cabin roof

I want to mount the spares on the roof of the cabin, forward of the slide-in camper overhang. It's a four door truck with older pop-up camper. Thinking about a small winch or ratcheting device to get them up there. Anyone done this?

Rubber mat between the camper and truck?

I'm not familiar with the term "stall mat". What is that exactly?

Rubber mat between the camper and truck?

Guy I got the camper from suggested laying a rubber mat between the plywood camper bottom and the steel truck bed. Any thoughts/experience w/this? What type, thickness? Much appreciated are any responses.

    1976 Ford F-250 highboy

In California, I thought the emissions restrictions exemption was for '75 and earlier? I believe it's a state by state jurisdiction thing?

    Cost of an engine/transmission replacement?

An aside to this, I guess 100 posts upgrades my Expo status from "Observer" to "Adventurer".

    Cost of an engine/transmission replacement?

The point is if one wants a good expedition/off road vehicle, and lacks mechanical skills, necessitating paying shop rates for every mod/repair, it may be cheaper in the long run to buy a brand new vehicle. (Edit: I know many people who've also paid multiple $K to Miller's Towing to get broken...

    Cost of an engine/transmission replacement?

That's an unheard of price here in Los Angeles.

    Cost of an engine/transmission replacement?

Ah, but this is a whole new conundrum....talking hi-miles older used vehicle vs. a low-miles newer used vehicle? At some point one is best off to just bite the bullet, and the payment, and buy new (nowadays $50K+).

    NEW 2015 3/4t 4x4 pickup CHOICES/features/value/reviews/experiences/etc.

at one time I thought to buy a brand new pop up camper, and I looked into all the different models. I would have immediately bought an XP if I had the money. I believeif you can afford it, its hands down the best option. But if you go to go slightly less $$$ probably FWC is the way to go. if...

    F-350 winch selections

I would think the 1.5x GVW rule bears out under the "it's always nice to have a little more machine than you think you need" theory.

2015 Overland Expo West Pictures (photo gallery)

I know how that goes. I do custom residential construction work. I saw one of your custom boxes on a Fuso in Playa Del Rey recently. I was drooling. At one time I was considering a custom pop-up camper build and was hoping to get you guys (or even ATC) to do it. Then it seemed the only...
