I'm am too a great fan of these builds, much like JRally's awesome Celica-build. Trucks and SUV's aside, expedition cars are so much cooler!

Lifted "stock" cars have some kind of Mad Max feel to them, I like it alot. I really like the ExpoRally look. JRally's Celica is one of the cooles builds on this site, no offence to all of the other great builders ;)

If I were to acquire a VAN for camper conversion, I would look into the one with best ground clearance and possibly awd. A sprinter with awd and some nice at's would be kickass!

If you would like to go the SBAT way, I've heard that it is possible to swap enginge/transmission from a regular road-going Scania truck. I am no mechanic so I have no idea how to achieve this, but the info should be available on the terrangbil forums. SBAT v8 anyone? :)

I would not get one if you don't need the size and space. The 4x4 version weighs more or less 3 times as much as the 6x6 Tgb. One thing you could do is to water proof the actual components in the radios. Clear lacquer and that neat elecric grease stuff. Might be worth a shot at least. Nice build btw, keep 'em pics comin'.

That Land Rover sure is the creme de la creme of Rovers. Nicely done! I have a question: How does the front of the rollcage attach to the truck? Is it just bolted to the fenders, or are there any reinforcements underneath?

As for safety/reliability i can't see how it could go wrong. At least if you are a good mechanic/let good mechanics do the swap. Can't tell you about the legal issues though.
