    My Audi allroad

I'm am too a great fan of these builds, much like JRally's awesome Celica-build. Trucks and SUV's aside, expedition cars are so much cooler!

    Lifted MKV Golf

Lifted "stock" cars have some kind of Mad Max feel to them, I like it alot. I really like the ExpoRally look. JRally's Celica is one of the cooles builds on this site, no offence to all of the other great builders ;)

    Ultimate Expedition Vehicle

That would really be something, Jay. Although I have no experience with 4x4's or any custom cars really, I still dream of embarking a around the world trip in a expedition style vehicle. My latest craving is a Volvo c304 (tgb13) with a twist. Stock drivetrain with Toyota or Nissan 6 cyl. tdi...

The new Nissan van vs the Mercedes Sprinter

If I were to acquire a VAN for camper conversion, I would look into the one with best ground clearance and possibly awd. A sprinter with awd and some nice at's would be kickass!

Scania SBAT (Volvo TGB's big brother)

If you would like to go the SBAT way, I've heard that it is possible to swap enginge/transmission from a regular road-going Scania truck. I am no mechanic so I have no idea how to achieve this, but the info should be available on the terrangbil forums. SBAT v8 anyone? :)

Scania SBAT (Volvo TGB's big brother)

I would not get one if you don't need the size and space. The 4x4 version weighs more or less 3 times as much as the 6x6 Tgb. The footprint left by this vehicle are of the kind you don't talk about, to anyone. Drive it on a wet soft road, and there shall be no more road, but two cuts the size of...

    eXpeditionXterra Build Up

One thing you could do is to water proof the actual components in the radios. Clear lacquer and that neat elecric grease stuff. Might be worth a shot at least. Nice build btw, keep 'em pics comin'.

Democratic Republic of Congo: Lubumbashi to Kinshasa

The truck looks awesome Frederik! Good job. But I wish I hadn't asked for teaser pics, my needs of seeing more of this truck exceeds my previous curiosity.

Democratic Republic of Congo: Lubumbashi to Kinshasa

I recall that OP stated that he was working on a purpose built expedition truck. I believe the time has come to give us some information and teaser pics! :D

    An expedition truck on portals...

That Land Rover sure is the creme de la creme of Rovers. Nicely done! I have a question: How does the front of the rollcage attach to the truck? Is it just bolted to the fenders, or are there any reinforcements underneath?

    Lada Niva Mini Expedition Project

Love it. Are you gonna replace the sills with square tubes?

    Welding front differential.

Gidday! I've been reading here for quite a while now and I have so far learned very much, thank you expo members. I do not currently own a 4x4 truck/suv but are planning to purchase one in a not so far future. On to my actual question: Can you weld your front diff, instead of getting a...

    Suzuki Samurai Custom Camper Build

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Very sweat build mate. Glad to see it in a dedicated thread too, so I can comment without going Off Topic ;)

    How legal/safe/reliable would it be

As for safety/reliability i can't see how it could go wrong. At least if you are a good mechanic/let good mechanics do the swap. Can't tell you about the legal issues though.

In Response to the Congo Thread: A Technical Discussion

In the Congo they suffered the first major truck breakdown on the entire trip. Would it have been worth the hazzle of bringing a bunch of spares all around the globe when they never really needed it? I think not. They had no reason to believe that the truck would fail, and when they did they...
