3rd Gen rear diff carrier shims

Do you have ASA (mitsubishilinks.com)? You can get all the shim and spacer part numbers that way. If you havent yet, check my build thread as I put most of the spacer numbers there.

New 3rd gen owner with various questions.

I'd say it's possible because anything after the MAF can cause a vacuum issue.

    Help!!! Where does it go???

2003 Mitsubishi Montero XLS P0300 code

    1. The MAF cleaning was likely done incorrectly since Monteros have a different kind of MAF than the vast majority of vehicles and if you use store bought “MAF cleaner” you’re running a risk. The MAFs on these rigs dont really ever need to be cleaned given the way they operate (karman vortex)...

New 3rd gen owner with various questions.

Mitsubishilinks.com is where you can downlod the FSM for free and then you can print it out and hole punch it if you like. As for the vac leaks, likely culprits: 1. Exhaust manifolds 2. Surge tank Butterfly shaft o-ring 3. All the vac lines around the intake plenum

Yeah definitely upgrade the crank bolt with the new OEM one and only use OEM parts for the timing belt job as well - you can get all the parts for around $250.

Amazingly low miles, great find! I agree with what has been posted by others. - Center diff light is likely the freewheel clutch solenoid - most of us just replace it with cheap chinese unit from ebay (the vac lines will probably need to be changed on the new part before install. just match...

    Which Ball Joint?

I think that's a good plan, PartSouq goes through their stock way faster than local Mitsu dealers. One thing I've done before and you can too, is send them an email with the part numbers and ask them how old the inventory is/if it has been sitting for a long time and they were happy to answer.

"Yoshi" - 2005 Limited Build & Adventure Thread

10/3/19: Time for a transmission service. I don't know when the last time it was done but I do know that it has been at least 36k miles and guestimating my the condition of the fluid I'd say probably been in there for 50-60k. No burnt smell, trans shifts fine, and the fluid still has a reddish...

"Yoshi" - 2005 Limited Build & Adventure Thread

What size rings do you have? When I ordered mine today they recommended 106.1 to 67.1 even though the Toyota wheels are 106.2. They said it would be super hard and you'd have to use a hammer if they were made the exact size so they always do Toyota rings .1mm smaller than the wheel and have...

"Yoshi" - 2005 Limited Build & Adventure Thread

9/23/19: I took Yoshi to Mark Mitsubishi for an appt. to get two things done: 1. Fuel Tank Leveling Valve Recall - I read about other Gen3 owners talking about how their rigs smell like gasoline sometimes and someone posted that there was a recall for a leaky Fuel Tank Leveling Valve, whatever...

Cracked Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Gen 3

I'm not sure if anyone else on here has given them a try, let's see what people say, I'm interested to see how they are working out - haven't heard any post installation feedback yet, good or bad.

You got it. The plastic ones I have currently are from https://us.hubcentric-rings.com/ I had good luck with my last set from them but this set must have been made elsewhere as it looked cheaper when I got it and it had different markings. I just ordered a custom billet aluminum set from...

"Yoshi" - 2005 Limited Build & Adventure Thread

Haha, by crap i meant this: “ I'm not excited that this tough, Dakar champion, overbuilt rig can't handle tiny fractions of a mm of variance on the wheels.” Probably the worst thing I’ve ever said about Monteros not related to the engines.

9/22/19: Having all but given up on trying to find the cause of my steering wheel vibration in Flagstaff, I drove Yoshi down to Phoenix with an empty utility trailer (had to pick up some stuff anyways) and dropped it off at Toasty's place while I continued on down to Rocky Point for a little R&R...

    Monty the 3rd Gen Montero

Pretty clean! Looks like the original shocks & those rear alignment bolts are likely seized unfortunately (common with Gen3s since no one ever aligns them regularly).

    2007 Pajero shorty build thread

Wow, it's amazing what you were able to fit in that shorty! Also, I was excited to see the finished rear door after you patched the original spare tire location but didn't see any pics of the finished product, got any handy?
