We have a Coleman Ultra Extreme that will keep a block of ice reasonably intact over a 5-day period in the desert. While I haven’t tried it yet, I thought about using dry ice to extend its efficiency. Of course, most of that is a moot point since I bought the Dometic fridge & freezer.

Condolences. My father passed when I was 10 and my mom (now 86!) made sure I spent lots of time on outdoor adventures. Keep it up with the kids...they’ll thank you for it.

Referencing the original post F-350/flatbed: if you believe you’ll really need a winch then go big and permanently mount front & rear and be done with it. Moveable winch for that size rig? Good luck on your upcoming hernia operation.

My FIL, retired large animal veterinarian, worked the Eagle Cap (and Iditarod) for several years. We took a horse pack trip up in the wilderness several years ago. Absolutely beautiful area. Good luck and have fun at the race!

Our 2010 Suburban sports the 5.3/6L80 combo and I can wholeheartedly concur with the suggestion for regular trans services and fluid level checks. The car runs noticeably better after full flushes, eliminating the lag between shifts. After 153k miles it’s still a great ride for us. ?
