Falken Wildpeak AT/3W - anyone running them? Opinions?

the e rated wildpeak is listed as 66.1lbs on the Falken website. It’s listed at 34.1 inches tall, just one column over. I was really hoping you were correct because a 40% decrease in unsprung weight would be huge! The lightest brand tire in every size seems to be Firestone. I’ll be trying...

    Another gen 2 sleeping platform

I did remove the armrests of that second row seating to allow for a wider platform

    Another gen 2 sleeping platform

Pics of my platform. Planned on carpeting but here I am, a year later, using it all the time and still haven’t made it look nice. So many projects, such limited time (off work). Scuse the crappy pics and dirty truck, these were taken after a camping trip. You get the idea. 3 sections. The...

1996 Montero sr thermostat housing... and revival

Okok let’s get on with the update. Filled w coolant and the truck starts right up and idles about 1500-1700 rpm. Gave it a rev, and BAM! Clack clack clack, *smoke from the hood* Killed it. Popped the hood and saw this: Apparently if you leave the fan off, you need to tighten the fan bolts...

    Its been a while

Maybe try looking for a donor vehicle with a good engine? I’ve seen a few “bad transmission” or “head gasket” gen 3s in the $1500 range over the last few years

Think I'll helicoil it eventually. But I'll wait until I know the truck is running well and passes smog

1996 Montero sr thermostat housing... and revival

Saved by Earlron! He lives about 40 mins from me and came through with a replacement housing, thank you! Installed with a new thermostat: One of the top threads is stripped, so I added some silicone and will give it a day to cure before adding fluid and giving a try. Still need: Battery...

    1995 gen 2 vibrations...

New parts. Notice how saggy the tranny mount is. Also notice how I was successful in finding a beefier transfer case mount. Was able to jack up the tranny and swap mounts without pulling the crossmember, which was nice. bolted it all together, and took to the Highway. Vibes are SIGNIFICANTLY...

    1995 gen 2 vibrations...

BAD vibrations when I first got the truck, front tires were out of round. New tires were worlds better, but still some vibration at highway speeds. On really nice new highway, I could get up to 80 with no vibes, but any bump starts a chain reaction of vibes that I can sometimes feel in my seat...

    Mighty Max 4WD on copart

$850 was reasonable but not worth flying in and spending a weekend driving home for me. I’m not surprised about the new $2000 minimum price with the current truck market. Wonder if anyone will bite

1996 Montero sr thermostat housing... and revival

Update: placed an order for the part from an online Mitsubishi warehouse that said it was in stock. Few days later order is cancelled due to the part not being in stock... Repeat 3 more times with three separate venders. Going to have to find a junkyard part

Easy, nice. Did you notice the new links help your handling? Had an old way bar link let go on the trail and after I replaced the links the handling felt much more planted

    Looking for a DD/Expo vehicle

Go post in the Mitsubishi forum and everyone will say Montero! Lol on a serious note, I’ve got a 2nd gen and love it. Id say it’s most comparable to a 3rd gen forerunner with much more headroom, less side to side room (skinnier) and half the cost. Ultimately the best vehicle is the one you...
