Early ‘99 F-350 Powerstroke work truck turned expo rig, with some work truck in there still!

Fully loaded, it whole truck tends to be between 10k - 11k. I don't have a weight on the shell alone as logistics weren't on my side when I picked it up. Our circumstances has us taking pretty short trips - it would be even heavier if we were carrying enough kit to last for weeks to months at a...

Early ‘99 F-350 Powerstroke work truck turned expo rig, with some work truck in there still!

I have custom leafs by Alcan and 2.5" shocks by ADS. The wheels plus a 25mm spacer got the offset correct to clear the springs. I should be more clear - I think an expedition camper like this should be on a 550/5500 series chassis.

Early ‘99 F-350 Powerstroke work truck turned expo rig, with some work truck in there still!

I have the same truck but with the ZF-6. I've also added a KC300x, PHP, and supporting mods so power is not an issue. My wheels are the Method 701HDs in 18x9. These have the higher 4500lb weight rating. Method has expanded their HD options since I got my wheels, just make sure they have HD in...

Rear axle width of chassis cap trucks after conversion to SRW

Generally, if you’re converting a dual-rear wheel truck to singles, the new single wheels are designed to have the same width front to rear. They have offsets and mounting faces such that you mount them oriented one way for the rear and the opposite for the front. I don’t know why you’d go to...

Thanks for the nice words. LOL almost. A queen-sized bed gets long in the north-south orientation. Dimensions in millimeters.

Thanks, I agree it is nice to see how other ppl solve their problems. That was part of the reason I post in real time - I like being able to provide some insight into the stuff I'm using. Actually, the truck rides fine. I have custom leafs front/rear from Alcan spring as well as ADS 2.5 shocks...

The spacer is that purple rigid foam stuff from HD or similar. It is wrapped in vinyl and white duct tape lol. Works great thus far. Probably about the same, although that is a wild guess.

I think they look elevated because of how high they start, lol. Also, even though there are only two bikes on there, the rack is a 3 bike rack to clear the spare, which makes it higher than a standard double 1Up rack. Check your messages.

Fully loaded with 3 people, 2 dogs, enough water and gear ~4,000lbs. Truck needs replacing. IDK how anyhow thinks this type of camper would work on a 350/3500 truck.

What details of the carrier would you like to see? The fab shop did build the bumper and carrier as a single unit. The bumper has an integrated winch mount - there is an 18k Superwinch under there. Inspiration for the carrier came from the Genright‘s swing down setup. There is a receiver in...

Misc stuff One thing I was particularly pleased about was my solution for holding the door open. Because the bathroom window is right behind the door, whatever we used needed to also have some stand off. I hate dumb stuff just being attached to the outside of the camper so the solution needed...

Furniture I am no wood worker and attention to detail is not my strong suit. I went back and forth on how to build out the interior “stuff” like the seating, kitchen, etc. Thanks to @RAM5500 CAMPERTHING and @StenchRV for showcasing the use of 80/20. It made building the interior components so...

Plumbing In contrast to the electrical, the plumbing install was frustrating. Almost every threaded connection leaked; all the Sharkbite connections did not. This led to even less pics being taken than normal. The tank itself is a 37 gallon marine unit. I didn’t need something that big, rather...

HVAC I used a 12 volt minisplint from Amazon. It was variously branded as AC/DC, Solar Velo, or Fleet Welcome. I can confirm they are all the same company (spoke w/ who I think is the only employee lol) and appear to be the same unit that AT is using in their Aterra. It isn’t available on...

Electrical I am surprised that few people here mention the folks at Explorist.Life but they made wiring super simple. They make line drawings for various sized systems complete with super detailed shopping lists. I bought almost everything from either them or Current Connected. Along with Will...

Time for an update! Big props to @Victorian - he was super accommodating when we changed the plans on our order. This was in addition to all the input he had as we finalized the design. The order was placed in mid-April 2022 and the assembled box was picked up in early October. The only problem...

Diesel heater exhaust penetration through foam core.

Exactly. I think they import it from Germany. It is a great solution.

Diesel heater exhaust penetration through foam core.

Not sure what heater you’re using, but Total Composites sells this flange: https://expeditionupfitter.com/collections/diesel-heater/products/mounting-flange-for-air-heater I’m using it in my TC camper without any issues.

They face upwards towards the ceiling . They are mounted with VHB; the VHB is on a vertical leg of the channel. I'll try to get some pics this week.
