Very nice cloud color!
One of my pet peeves is when someone attempts to create this look by "spraypainting" in PS--the resulting even-toned color just screams FAKE.

Thanks Brad-
I decided to go out at the very last minute to see what developed with the clouds. Got lucky with this bit of color--then the rain chased me out as I did not have any rain gear for me or the camera.

For what you've outlined, I'd look for a Cummins equipped '94 thru '98 Dodge. Cummins engines are used around the globe.
You wouldn't have to mess around with an engine swap, which will have emissions laws consequences if you put a 12V in something newer than '98.
On edit: Here's a crew cab...
I believe the engine is around 130 horses and 355 lb-ft torque. (Depends on year.)
So, you won't be winning any drag races, but there's plenty of power for pulling and roaming around the backcountry.
Agree with the above. But if we put a law in place that says you can't have a loaded gun without the proper training, I doubt if there would be an exception for senior citizens; and some of those seniors would then unload and put away the peacemaker for fear of violating the law.

My '04.5 was doing the same thing after it sits for 2 or more days. 80K miles on it now. Took it to the dealer and they said it was due to the transmission filter being dirty/plugging up. Had them service it, and all is good now.
It sure is crying out for a camper build, isn't it? I love these Volvos.

I finally got to a place with a high-speed connection to check out all the pics.
Beautiful photos! Great write-up and thanks for sharing. I love the sunset in camp shot...and Horseshoe. Fantastic.
Great choice (as long as you can live with the turning radius!!!!)
My best mpg with my '93, essentially the same as yours, was 26.5. That was cruising around Yellowstone park for 450 miles at 35-45 mph.
With my Aerotank in place of the underbed spare tire--38 gals-- my realistic cruising...
