    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

The old IPF lights were, quite frankly, garbage. Not very bright and they didn't respond well to any moisture. The new Auxbeam LEDs are awesome. Super bright, throw light in all the right places, and stand up well to the elements thus far. I have them wired directly to the battery with a...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Thanks! No, no real difference in snow performance between the two tires. I actually had Duratracs on my X for close to 3 years before switching to the BFGoodrich KO2s. The two tires are actually very comparable in overall performance, although the Duratracs snow performance definitely degraded...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

It was scenically awesome. I'm sure Ohio has its own aesthetic charms, in a sense. After all, you do have Cleveland! In all seriousness, the UP seems pretty accessible for you. From what I've heard, that's amazing. The trip was certainly worth it, no qualms with not making the original...

    sailorcolin's Overland Build

Welcome to the snorkel club! The X looks great. I'm a North Carolina native (grew up in Durham, graduated from NC State), and will hopefully be moving back that way in the next few years. I'll definitely be picking your mind for some resident trail/camping knowledge.

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Earlier today, Trixter404 and myself ventured down near Mt. Adams on forest road 23 with the intent of making it up to Taghlakh Lake. We spent a couple of hours plowing through fresh powder until it finally got too deep to overcome. We made it with a half mile of the lake, which was slightly...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Capitol Forest is alright, but once the snow really sets in it gets overrun by folks. I know some good spots out on the peninsula near Lake Cushman, if you're willing to trek that far. Around mid-December the snow gets really good up there, but still manageable. There's also good camping if you...

Best source for Frontier OME suspension?

Nisstec would probably be your best bet. Decent prices, mostly reliable customer service. I've purchased most of my ARB products from them, including my OME suspension components.

Let's do it. Anywhere particular in mind? I despise photobucket with every fiber of my being, trust me. I'm going to fix the photo links eventually, I promise.

07BlackSpecV's Junior Overland 2008 Nissan Xterra

Pictures are working now, and they're awesome :clapping: I think you'll like the OME kit. Are you running aftermarket UCAs now? If so you could add a ~1 inch top plate spacer for some additional lift up front. That's what many of us are doing.

"Lola" - WreckDiver1321's 2005 Frontier CC/SB Nismo Build and Adventure Thread

Basically the same issue I had with the MK84s. After 20k miles, the lower spherical bearings were shot on both sides. They made terrible squeaking noises when dry, and felt unstable. The passenger side bearing I could move around in the lower strut mount by hand. Not exactly safe. For the...

"Lola" - WreckDiver1321's 2005 Frontier CC/SB Nismo Build and Adventure Thread

I've been thinking about trying the IMS out of curiosity, you'll have to let me know if there's any value in it. Have you ever toyed around with your camber bolt configuration to tighten up the front end? Once I had my alignment guy set the camber bolts to build in quite a bit of extra caster...

"Lola" - WreckDiver1321's 2005 Frontier CC/SB Nismo Build and Adventure Thread

Unfortunate news on the motor troubles, Tom. Glass half-full: You'll be rolling around with a new, reliable power plant and essentially complete front end in a couple of months. Lola will live to see 350k miles or more :smiley_drive:

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Thanks! Living in the PNW is definitely a unique experience. I'll only be here for a couple more years, unfortunately. Most definitely. We'll have to link up for a trip this winter, man. Thanks! I find myself checking out your build and trips regularly, as well. Thanks! Thanks, again!

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Still haven't gone through and fixed all of my photos yet, it's such a daunting task. Regardless, I wanted to go through and post some photos from my summer/fall trips thus far. Trip up the Fortune Creek Trail in the Cascades in July. The Old Barlow Road around Mt Adams in Oregon in August...

19k miles with OME/ Dakar suspension for 2015 Frontier

I love OME suspension components. For about 20k miles, I ran OME front Coilovers with SPC UCAs and 1.5 inch spacers. I loved this setup, but when I installed by ARB bumper, the medium duty springs just couldn't handle the weight. I "upgraded" to Nisstec MK84 Coilovers with 690lb springs and one...

    Nissan Photos - post your's

Great pictures! I've hiked Ellinor several times, it's amazing. A little harsh in the winter, though. Everything around Lake Cushman is amazing. I try to get up that way every couple of weeks for some hiking, trout fishing, and exploration.

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Been a while since I've touched this thread, so here goes. For starters about a month ago I finally installed a winch. Smittybilt XRC 9.5k with synthetic line, to be exact. Install, was easy, but time consuming because I had to drop the bumper to mount the winch. I also painted the grill...

My New Build: 1990 3-Door Nissan Patrol, 4.2, Diesel

If it's any consolation, I was never really a fan of the yellow/tan paint job. That being said....I LOVE the new color. It's better than the original color. I'm a sucker for grey hues.
