    Identify this rack rail?

When I needed some obsolete Yakima components, ORS sent me to ReRack.com and they had what I needed. ReRack sells new and NOS and (probably) used rack stuff. They have lots of inventory for a bunch of brands and are very helpful. They would know if perhaps the Yak and Thule tracks can take...

    Identify this rack rail?

I got curious and poked around a little. Took a closer look at your shell, and it's a Leer. Leer offers Thule as a factory option, so that's my new guess. Whenever I need rack parts or accessories, I usually order them from ORS Racks Direct. They often have sales and online coupons and free...

Dead starting batteries and a high output alternator

To the OP: I had several pairs of Optimas in my GMC gasser and several times had to charge them from dead with a puny, stock 105amp GM alternator. No damage. I have had that truck for over 20 years and always ran Odyssey or Optima AGMs in it, always in pairs. Last year I needed fresh...

where can i find a pre-fab metal box?

Adrian Steel makes a line of steel boxes for service vans, so there might be a standard item in their catalog. When i needed a six-foot drawer for the back of my truck, I had it fabbed by and shipped from Ainley Kennels. I think they are in Iowa. Steel storage cabinets can be found close to...

    Identify this rack rail?

Can you post a close-up of he end caps? Looks like Yakima tracks to me. If ARE offers tracks mounted as an option with new shells, that might narrow it down.

    Gluing to plastic

According to the stat sheet from innerduct it’s not all that strong but plenty strong for most applications. https://www.innerduct.com/hdpe-glue. That's why screws are a good idea if you are going to mount hardware onto the Trex (or whatever) blocks inside the box. Screws from the outside...

    Gluing to plastic

Your best bet will be a combination of screws and thin VHB tape. If you are worried about water infiltration around the screws, just use self tappers or drill your screw hole undersized and add a bit of 5200 as the screw goes in. If it's HDPE, it is almost impossible to glue with any consumer...

    Fridge Power

Bottom is insulated with the thermal bag and the fridge sits on a raised, ventilated steel platform for plenty of air circulation around the vents. Thermal bag is lined with reflective foil, and the stuff I throw on top is whatever I have handy. Thinking about cutting a section of something...

    Fridge Power

FWIW, I have an Indel B 50 in the PW. Also have an ARB 50 but the Indel fits a little better in the back seat and gets a few degrees (maybe 3-4C) colder than the ARB when set to max freeze, which is my norm when heading to the desert in summer. My house batteries are a pair of 75ah AGM true...

    Fridge Power

The drain is the fridge when outside temps are in the 115-125 range and the cab of the truck is north of 185. I have not installed solar yet but I have a 100W Renogy panel ready to go on the rack as soon as I can get to it. Parasitic drain has been tested multiple times on multiple meters by...

    Fridge Power

Depending on how your truck came from the factory, you might consider upgrading the alternator. My Power Wagon came with 160amp alt, and I thought it was great until I added a fridge and a second battery to support it. Wound up adding a second house battery to give me 150ah in the house bank...

    Ram skid plate

You could probably fit skid plates from a Power Wagon. Should be easy if yours is a 2500. Probably doable on a 1500, maybe.

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

My biggest concern with air bags of this type is that they don't appear to have a way to fail gracefully, or simply max out and stall. Amen!

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

Well it should not of broke under that load because you only lift one corner at a time, The Jack is rated at over 2 Ton so it was under half of it's capacity. The R/F tire had fallen into a hole and the truck was resting on its frame on the edge of the hole. So I tried to lift the whole...

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

Jeez DD, you were lucky Mate. Sorry to hear that. When you say Power Wagon is it one of those old Monster Army type Trucks or one of the new ones ?? I seen them old ones and they weigh a Ton, more like 3 Ton. Mine is a 2005, but it's over 4 tons when packed for a trip. Loves gas stations...

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

in some cases augmenting that with an inflatable bag (similar to ARB X-jack). I am on my second X-Jack because the first one split a seam and dropped the truck suddenly while lifting. Could have been a disaster if I had my arm under there positioning a jack stand or blocks. No warning, just...

    New truck battery 12.2 volts

The cig lighter socket meters will usually read low because of voltage drop over the tiny wires that supply the socket. I have measured as much as 1.0 V lower at the socket than at the terminal posts, sometimes less depending on which socket in which truck.

    Favorite Tire Repair Kit?

I have an ARB kit in one truck and a Safety Seal kit in the other. Seem to be pretty much the same, except for the color of the case. ARB worked fine the one time I really needed it. Both trucks carry cans of Fix-A-Flat and at least one compressor in each.

    Mounting a Pullpal...

Well, I think I have figured out what I'm going to do with the Pull-Pal, but not enough time to fab things before the next trip. Will probably carry the beam sideways on the outside rear of the roof rack, so that I can stand on the tailgate to deploy it. The spade looks like I can carry it on...
