Design help request: Dog enclosure UNDER truck for camping

I just wanted something pretty secure for a couple reasons. The big one is a good dog but not yet we’ll trained. So I want to keep her IN whatever she is in without worrying about busting out. I’d prefer not to tie them up because they get so tangled up with each other. The other main reason...

Exactly the situation. Travel in the cap, sleep somewhere else. I was pondering folding down the 60 side as well. And maybe the cooler can just be moved back and forth between the cap and the truck as required.

I was kind of thinking along this route as well. We have those crates but the big one is HEAVY. Add 125 lbs inside it and that’s gotta be a good support of the truck. But I do like this idea.

 These dogs ARE family, so I don't want to hear the "...or don't get them" crap. They get to do pretty much whatever they want, they are almost NEVER kept in a kennel, they sleep inside by our room, they get good expensive dog food, etc etc. The 90 lb. one sheds like a dried out...

They sleep inside but are in and out all day. So I guess they “live” inside.

Good thought. They lay under there in the summer anyway sometimes and it hasn’t been much of an issue though. Now if it was really muddy or something I think that would be more likely.

Haha. Getting the 90 lb dog on the top of a 7’ high truck could be a challenge.

Design help request: Dog enclosure UNDER truck for camping

I have a Dodge Megacab that I am starting to outfit for camping and light off road trips. I have a wife and a toddler, and two dogs. One dog is 90 lbs, and the other is 35 lbs. That is too much meat to store in the camper shell where we plan to sleep in the beginning (have to test the waters...

All I know, if you can currently make it through the Starbucks drivethru, why would you EVER jeopardize that!?

    Spare tire?

    a) all depends on the truck. Guy I know has a Tundra with 35s and with a little trimming of some small brackets under the bed, the spare fit in the stock location. b) agreed, couldn't have a camper extending past the back bumper. But just like a good front bumper, yes, a back bumper will be...

Slide In / Out Cabinetry and Storage

Thanks man, I thought it was pretty good for $250! I actually have talked about these chuck boxes with a guy at work. He turned me onto them just this week actually when we were talking about this subject. My only concern is that they look HEAVY, especially when loaded up with kitchen stuff...

Slide In / Out Cabinetry and Storage

I am going to be converting my ARE contractor cap to a pop top similar to an OVRLND type setup. Built in storage / sink / cabinetry etc would be great, but has anyone ever done this in a removable slide in / slide out type setup? Basically a floor and sides that go over the wheel wells that...
