    31" Tires

Really folks you need to lighten up, this post was REALLY!! brought by on by someone who has hinted that maybe my rig wasn't capable on 31s and my driving experience (only 68 years of off road travel) wouldn't be enough for a planned trip. But by the time I saw the humor in it I had already...

    31" Tires

No really what I'm saying is that I get a little tired of people saying that you can't do this or that on 31s and that your rig is not as capable because it rolls on 31s. But you are entirely right a 4 X 4 is only as good as the driver. Actually the people I wheel with are relatively sane and we...

    31" Tires

My first question. What well go farther down a rocky trail? A 31" tire or a broken axle or suspension components. Next question. Do you really enjoy never getting to use OD on the highway? These question only apply to rigs that are relatively stock and are running tires that are 2 or 3 sizes...

    1990 Trooper Makeover

Nice Trooper the V6 is a good engine, just a little under powered in stock form but there is a lot of room for more performance. Your power steering leak can be slowed or stopped with Lucas power steering additive. I am usually not a fan of additives but this stuff has really worked. Dave

    1991 Isuzu Trooper Overlanding Build

Not to butt in but it is gone. Bart sold it and I believe all other Isuzus and mostly left the Isuzu community although I do see a post once in a while. The whole story can be found on Planet Isuzu. Too bad, he some great info and and shared some great posts. Dave

    Bed liner on plywood?

I applied Herculiner to all of the plywood doors & hatches on my rear seat area storage it adhered good and seems to holding up alright. The secrete to getting a nice even coat is their roller, I bought a 1 Gal. kit that had 2 rollers in it. I did a roll on bed liner job on a Trooper I was going...

    ZULANDR - 1994 Isuzu Trooper - Louisiana

You have joined an elite group of like minded people who march to a different tune. I have really enjoyed my travels with my !989 Trooper which is set up for both overloading and trails. I like to see threads like your's that show that there are other vehicles beside Jeep,Toyota & Land Rover...

    Rear seat storage

I have always removed the rear seat when traveling and camping by my self, I have a custom drawer system in the back that ends at the back of the rear seat and I would use a piece of plywood from it to a support right behind the front seat for a bed. Now that I have decided to leave the rear...

    Oil and anti-freeze storage

I won't get into the antifreeze/water debate but I can suggest 2 alternatives for carrying oil one is taken from loggers and fire crews they use aluminum fuel bottles usually 1quart. But a cheaper container that I have used for years is the quart tin cans that some fuel additive and other...

    Warn hubs

I never throw anything away and my shop looks like it. That's what I have been hoping some one will see this post and have a broken one or some thing I'm sure that the dial and cap and such are all the same on many of the hubs of this style. Dave

    Warn hubs

Well that what I ended up doing, I put it in the lathe and cleaned every thing up the best it could be. Then I turned an over sized bronze bushing and pressed it into the housing, because I had to clean up the bearing surface for the axle gear the gear will now ride on a heavy brass washer...

    Going out Solo, Recovery options.

Read the the thread Movable Winch, I travel solo almost all of the time the key to it is be cautious and be prepared. Keep your truck in good condition and don't develop an attitude with repairs and mods that that is good enough. Good luck and go out and enjoy your, you only learn from...

    Movable winch

When I started the build on my 89 Trooper one of the first mods were the bumpers and I had already planned on a winches funds became available so the bumpers were built with 2" receivers. When I got the winch the Trooper was wired with #2 welding wire and 500 amp plug ins at both ends. But a...

    Warn hubs

Thanks Andy but this is beyond a service kit, after a through cleaning and examination this hub should just be replaced, damage starts at the main housing the bronze bushing is gone (small pieces) and it's seat is ruined, the axle gear is is cracked, the slide gear is cracked, the dial's...

    Warn hubs

Does any one know of a shop any where in the USA that repairs or recondition Warn hubs. I have not contacted Warn yet but I did not see anything related to repairing hubs on their site. I broke a half shaft on my Trooper and it broke right at the end of the hub axle gear it was not a clean break...

    Warn M8000 VS VR8000

Thanks for the reply I knew there had be some differences. My VR is 3.5 years old and has been rock solid till this happened but any inconvenience was more than made up by the customer service. Customer service and parts was a big factor in choosing this winch over others so a big AT A BOY to...

    Warn M8000 VS VR8000

I know this subject has been hashed over and over but I just had to throw this this in the fire. I stripped the second stage planetary gears in my VR8000 winch, what was interesting was when looking to order the part the M & the VR have the same planetary gears along with the brake assembly. I...

    Current Tool and Repair Kit

You seem to have 2 of the most important items that should be carried off road at all time -- Common sense and the ability to think outside of the box when it come to a repair. Some times being a master cobbler will get get you way farther than a trained technician Dave

    VR8000s Warn Winch

I stripped the gears on the 2nd stage planetary gear in my Warn VR8000s,I would like to hear from people who had the same experience. Is this a weak spot? Or did it just happen. I have already bought a new gear but if Warn covers this on warranty should I carry a new one in the truck. DAVE
