Reliable LC shop in Northern AZ?

I'd reach out to Dave Gore at 4Plus Products. He's in Eastern AZ, but he might have a referral for you. I don't know if he's on this board, but he's active on iH8mud (un: lcwizard). Good luck.

    New to Cruisers-Family Friendly?

The 60 series will not have anchors in the seat (which you probably knew) and does not have a traditional locking seat belt. Also, the 60 series is slow and thirsty. It's an enthusiasts truck at this point. Parts and knowledgeable mechanics can be expensive and hard to come by, though coming...

WANTED: Land Cruiser mechanic/service center in the Denver area - must be reliable!

You might also call Comprehensive Car Care or RSG Off Road. They aren't LC specialists like Slee, but they are competent shops that know their way around Toyotas. I've had great experiences at both of these shops.

Is a Land Cruiser the right choice

Don't buy a cruiser for MPG. Best case is somewhere in the 15-17 mpg range...more realistic is 13-15. I've purchased 2 'built' rigs at this point (1989 cruiser and 1998 cruiser)...buying a built rig is nice in that it can be cheaper than building yourself (I could not have purchased and built...

Land Cruiser FJ 40 gut check and a few questions

The 40/60/62 series vehicles are by and large becoming pits: time, money, or both. Unless they're fully restored, of course. Parts can be hard to find and expensive, and if you can't do the work yourself then finding good mechanics that know these vehicles can be hard. And when you do find...

Land Cruiser number 4.... I swear I can stop whenever I want.

Great story! Love the patina on that rig, especially the rusted out vise-grip pliers on the column!

    Dilemma FZJ80 or FJ55

Agree with mtndude on this one; keep the 55. You could always part out the 80 and use that $$$ to finish the 55, partially fund the purchase of another rig, etc. Is the F-150 a 4x4? If yes, it could probably support most of the off-road activities you want. Alternatively, you could sell it and...

Tacomas, which model to buy to mod

Start with less than you think you need and let your build evolve from there; seems like many people overbuild compared to actual use / needs (myself included). The defconbrix build is certainly drool worthy, but that trends more towards the 'unlimited budget' type build that isn't achievable...

    Rebuild a $2k 80?

The 100 series will be much more comfortable getting you to the trail and back - the comfort and power can't be matched by an 80. With a competent driver and the right vehicle modifications, the 100 should be able to handle all put the most extreme terrain. As a 100 owner, I'll gladly give up a...

Western US adventure vehicle w/ giant dog

Have you considered a trailer? Based on your dog, seems like an SUV is your best bet - maybe something like a Land Cruiser or 4 Runner with a trailer will work for you - gives the cargo space to the dog and still room for the gear. If you go the LC route, I think rear air was first available in...

    Trout fishing newbie

As an experienced fisherman, most of the stuff in this flyer will probably be stuff you already know, but maybe there's something new here: https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/ArkansasHeadwatersRecreationArea/Documents/FishingBoatingEtiquetteBrochure.pdf Also: -Go barbless -Spinning reel...

    Looking for some friendly advise.

The Slee guide is a very good resource. Check out the 100-series forum at ih8mud for more info on the 100 series; it's a better technical resource than this forum IMHO. Good luck and happy shopping.

    LC or 4R?

Gotcha. I just bought a 98 LC with 180K so I'm a little biased, but I fully expect a least 100K more miles out of my 98 without a lot of maintenance required. Has the timing belt service been done on the LC? It's due if it hasn't been done and parts/labor will run you $1500 or so - could be a...
