    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

Not worried about stopping or acceleration. The truck has plenty of power, the factory tires are 34.5”, and I will be deleting/tuning it soon enough. Between the factory brakes, exhaust brake, and trailer brakes I can shut the truck down pretty quick. I’ve driven a 17’ on 37s already, and while...

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

I pull a loaded lowboy gooseneck pretty often myself, so ease of removal will be absolutely necessary. I’m thinking of fabbing up a mid height bed rack in the next month or two to try out, then make a refined version later next year. After I figure out what changes I’d like.

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

Since the last time I’ve posted I’ve done a bit more than planned. Or at least ordered. I added some Baja Designs S2 combo lights to my front bumper to replace the factory fogs. These are a drastic improvement in low and wide visibility. I’ve got another pair of Baja Designs Squadron pod scene...

    Megacab VS Crewcab Ram 2500

I can load my truck down pretty easily with 2500 lbs of people and gear. Payload capacity is 3400 lbs, and I’ve already stretched it slightly over. That’s a single wheel F-350, so not a 3/4 ton. Looking at overlanding the 3500 may be overkill, but capacity always helps. Plus the 3500 comes...

Awesome. Glad to see more of these rigs being set up. Get some pics up!

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

If I intended to wheel this seriously then I'd absolutely consider a larger lift. I did about 400 miles of forest service roads two weeks ago, and skipped the last 80 miles I'd have liked to have done. The limiting factor at that time was my trailer, which will most likely be getting a shackle...

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

As it sits with both tanks full of diesel it's right around 8700 lbs. You're thinking about the same as myself.

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

Factory tires are something like 10.8" wide. An 11.50 will have a bit more bite to them, and still help alleviate some of the rubbing that a 12.50 would have.

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

If I go the 37 route I was considering Nitto Trail Grapplers for the simple fact they make them in a 37x11.50. That would alleviate some clearance issues. I don't plan to stuff the tires too severely. Mostly forest service roads and the like.

    2017 F-250 Overland/Hunt-Rig build

Haha I've got a F-350 CCLB with front and rear bumpers. I've got about 3" of clearance in the front, 1" of clearance in the back (thank goodness for cameras when backing), and currently 1/4" of clearance up top. I can gain an additional 3 1/2" of clearance up top with some work though, which...

    2017 F-250 Overland/Hunt-Rig build

Can't wait to see how it turns out. Hopefully that won't persuade me to go that direction. 2.5" with 37s is the largest I can make fit in my garage.

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

I keep going back and forth between 2" and 295s, or 2.5" and 37s. I'm most likely going Toyo RT, and keeping them on the stock wheels. I've got about 10k miles to make the decision which route I'm going though.

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

I've done a few small things lately. Ended up with bumpers, rear Rigid Duallies in the bumper, and a aux tank so far. I need to take the time to set up an Imgur account so I can post some pics.

    2017 F350 Rock Sliders?

You're definitely right about that. I don't necessarily intend to use them as a slider, so much as rocker panel protection from bumping into anything. I'd fully expect 8500 lbs to be able damage them if used in a true slider scenario.

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

Right now diesel in my AO is $2-2.10 per gallon. I also prefer using known high quantity Diesel stops for fresh fuel. Couple those two with the fact that I hate stopping for any reason other than desire, and I love a long range capable vehicle. Ideally I'd add an 90-110 gal tank to my truck...

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

Part of my reasoning for not going any higher. My truck sits about 2" rear high with the heaviest trailer I pull. 2.5" will be slightly nose high with that trailer. I can load it with more rear weight, as I do load it very front heavy currently. Rear bags may be used in this scenario to keep...

    TexasSixSeven F-350 build

The 17s have a good bit more clearance than the 16s. Yes I will have some rub, but it'll be at compression with wheels locked. I'm not willing to lift the truck, and not exactly going to wheel this. A level with 37s will provide plenty of clearance for what I have in mind, with minimal rubbing...
