    Material question

Been looking into building a drawer and tray for the back of the truck. I’m obviously looking for that happy medium between strength/durability and weight. It seems like most drawers are made of 3/4 ply, but I wonder about the long term durability. I’ve had work trucks with truck vaults and...

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Shot east from the lake for expo west, who else will be there? Some wicked meatball subs for dinner after a good lunch at the rickety crickets brewing in Kingman, AZ. After the 106 degree weather at the lake, the cool air, altitude and pondos are a welcome change. However it is hard to...

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

I also got around to fixing some small irritations on my booty-fab fridge slide. I was using a pin to lock it shut, swapped it for toggle latches, and also improved how it stays shut when not in use (so it doesn’t bounce). I also re drilled the mounts so it sits about a 1/2” closer to the driver...

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Been a while since I updated anything. Today I built a rack for the table. Details are in a post in Storage Solutions. Test trip next week prior to expo west.

    Table storage

So finally got around to making some table storage. I wanted the table to be out of the way when stowed, fairly easy to get to, and secure from rattling/bouncing/sliding (which always seems to occur no matter how it’s strapped down. So I went to my pile unused parts and scrap pieces and dug...

RSI SmartCap vs Leer vs ARE for build out?

That’s a sharp truck, I always liked the katlas.. I like the design of the RSI table storage for sure. I think I may booty-fab something similar for mine.

RSI SmartCap vs Leer vs ARE for build out?

I do, but it is homemade from aluminum extrusion. I have a 270 awning and a regular awning as well as my solar panel on it. I’ve put a massive pelican, recovery tools, and traction boards on it for a longer trip. The rack isn’t the most beautiful thing out there, but it does it’s job...

RSI SmartCap vs Leer vs ARE for build out?

I’ll chime in with my two cents on this, having had both an ARE and RSI cap on the same body style truck. My ARE was used, had interior and exterior racks, bin on the driver side, and door on the passenger side. I set my RSI cap up similar.. bin driver side and open door on the passenger...

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Thank you.. When I bought my 2014 I could have picked up a 2016 PW tradesman new for 7k more than what I was paying used.. still regretting that one. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

I’ve been battling a wag on a power wagon since I got it (used 2018). I have fox 2.0s in the rear and find them too soft. Last week I installed a hellwig rear sway bar and it made all the difference in my rear wiggle. I have thuren kings on the way to fix the shock issue.

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Definitely improved on road handling. I have the hellwig set on the softest setting. With the factory bar and geared up to go camping the truck would hit a sway at highway speed that caused the stability control to kick in several times. Not fun. New bar seems to have solved that. Offroad you...

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Yesterday I fueled in Flagstaff, so mostly downhill from there doing 75mph ish. There was some city driving around Phoenix and errands. Truck is showing 15.2mpg. Hand calculated at 13.8. The only time it consistently shows single digits is towing and on the trail in four wheel.

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Over the past couple days the wagon spent more time in four wheel then two wheel. Fun trip. Hellwig performed great and even on really crappy and wavy paved roads, it wouldn’t sway. Next up.. painting bumper and sliders and finishing up rear bumper.

    Trail Pig 2018 PW Build

Put a lot of miles on the wagon yesterday and today. Braved the interstate in the snow, and then spent the day on trails. The Hellwig makes quite the difference on the highway. I didn’t get any sway (not quite as loaded as a long trip, but I usually will sway a little with just the smartcap...
