Anybody using the Cap-Pack with their truck topper?

If it mounts directly to the roof of the topper, I'd be concerned about weight capacity, especially if you are putting stuff on a roof rack. Most fiberglass toppers are fairly limited in that regard. Looks slick though.

Better 6p tent than an REI basecamp? Need stormproof and good ventilation.

Mountaineering tents are meant for four season use with the emphasis on the fourth. They are not going to help with ventilation problems.

Check out Big Agnes tents. They make some pretty good stuff.

Are Maxtrax MKII the best ? Get orange?

I finally bought some last year. Have already used them a few times, and they have done the job. Haven't tried the cheaper versions, so I can't compare. When I finally broke down and went with the Maxtrax, I had visualized the scenario where one fails and it seemed worth it. Orange is also...

What do you use for a truck gun?

It seems like there are definitely two philosophies on this. One, and this seems to be the traditional one, is that you carry a cheap, beater type rifle or shotgun. The other is that you carry the best you can for defense. People subscribing to the former seem to be more concerned with four...

HELP!!!!! Looking for a 3 man tent

If this is for vehicle based, family use, I would not go with a three man tent. Bigger is definitely better, especially if you get stuck in it for a while due to weather. I'd go at least four man, and six would be better. The Big Agnes Rabbit Ear series is probably worth a look in that price...

    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

I have owned a '97 Chevy 1500 extended cab with the 5.7, a 2001 1500 ext. cab with the 5.3, and a 2009 1500 Suburban with the 5.3. I'm currently driving a 2013 2500HD (getting into a totally different vehicle here, but engine for comparison) with the 6.0. The 5.3 is fine for the vehicle alone...

2004 Chevy 6.0 Gasser- Aux fuel tank, just use a new " Diesel Tank" ?

I don't know how much the tanks have changed over the years, but my 2013 2500HD 6.0, ext cab, short bed has the 34 gallon tank. Depending on driving conditions, I can get about 475 miles out of it. As it fits a short bed, maybe one could be adapted to an older truck?

    Kifaru Woobie vs Rumpl Down

I have the Costco down blanket. It does not compare in any way to a HPG Serape which I have or Kifaru Woobie which I do not.
