My XJ seems to be an expedition vehicle

Welcome Steve. Nice XJ! I'm sure the folks here would be interested in your trailer too. Yours was one of the trailers that inspired me to get off my butt and build mine.

    Safari Pacific MTB

This is a very sweet frame. Shimano XTR shift cables. Nice sliding dropouts if Travis wants to try single speed. Just waiting on grips and pedals!

    Safari Pacific MTB

The wheelset is Hope XC hubs, DT Supercomp spokes, DT alloy nipples, and Mavic 717 rims that I built. The drivetrain is all Sram: XO rear derailluer, X9 front, X9 shifters, cassette, and chain. Avid Juicy Seven brakes. Older but awesome Manitou Minute Two fork. I can't remember the year but...

    Safari Pacific MTB

The lucky dog is getting the last of my stock of what I consider the best all around 26" MTB tire ever made. (unfortunately discontinued a few years ago) Truvativ cranks. Cane Creek Solos headset.

    Safari Pacific MTB

Travis wants a mountain bike! I have the honor of building a mountain bike for Travis. I hope he likes it, he's leaving it all up to me. (You know how picky he is about his gear!:sombrero:)

    Deutsche-optic 5 Gallon fuel cans

I've got 16 of them and they are great. When I ordered mine they had the spouts painted yellow for diesel and had pink gaskets which did not hold up to gasoline. I ordered the black replacement gaskets from them and they've been fine. I carry eight of them on my flatbed (six diesel and two gas)...

Couple of Months Traveling Through Baja

Actually at 48 lbs it's not too bad. I use the Yakima Hully Rollers and Mako Saddles and doing it solo is fairly easy.

    Moby1 Off Road Trailer

Try building one for yourself, I did and from my experience I think that's pretty reasonable.

    The Perfect Brew........!

Bell's Expedition Stout. Perfect name, perfect label. I nominate this as the "Official ExPo Beer"! 10.5% alcohol, unlimited shelf life (can age it like a wine), thickest, darkest, stoutest (is that a word?) beer I've ever had. It's seasonal and expensive at $16.99 a six pack, but...

I run Candys on everything INCLUDING my road bikes! If you need a bigger platform Crank Brothers also makes the "Acid" with the same mechanism.

Off-road Teardrop: Adventure Trailers Overland Teardrop

My trailer is stored in an air conditioned garage so I have not had any mold or mildew issues. Mine also has a window unit AC in the back so even if it was stored outside I could run that to keep the humidity down. I did have some de-lamination problems with the wood (cosmetic only, not...

    Spare Tire Mounted Bike Racks

How many bikes do you need to carry? They say this one fits up to 31's but I have used it on 33's and 35's. It seems like I may have turned the lower hinged part around or something, but I can't remember now.

Off-road Teardrop: Adventure Trailers Overland Teardrop

I have not had any hands-on experience with an AT teardrop. I can tell you the concept of an off road capable teardrop is a good one though. A few years back before there was anything on the market I built my own. My wife and I have spent up to three weeks at a time living out of it and my Jeep...

Using a Hybrid trailer as an onroad/offroad platform?

The biggest problems with most commercial trailers are, cabinetry (construction will not stand up to much vibration) interior walls/doors (same as above) vulnerable plumbing (black water dump systems typically hang very low) After we retire in three years, my wife and I plan on spending up to...
