Hi folks;
Just a quick update after 2500 miles. The Alternator had been fine, though with the old belt, I did notice a bit of squeal in the morning ever so slight. So I ordered the 1" shorter belt and we fitted it before heading to the Overland Expo at the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC...
Just a quick update on the alternator and belt. The alternator is doing great. I got the belt in and fitted it before heading to Overland expo East. Yesterday the belt disintegrated and we ended up fitting a 3 year warranty one from Advanced auto parts. If day that the 1" belt was too tight. No...
Yes, I agree on your points, different needs for different folks and all. That aside, they make up with efficiency what they lack in performance. The negative, they are not making it to permanent.
There's someone I'm meeting at overland east with some interesting panels... if you can wait I'll get pictures. http://www.flexopower.com/ otherwise-- do yo have dimensions of what you'd like.
I particularly like their shade tolerance and indestructibility. As an aside-- EP just published a...
Not typically if they are in good shape. The gears were kind of crappy, so we manufacture better ones. Problem solved.. The groaning gets worse and worse until it's a dull roar.. LOL.
Sounds good. I have no problems with the wire doing it the way it is routed. Under the fridge, out the back, off the side. A little excess in the rear, so it will go in and out.. it works great. Keep your run as short as possible, shoot for zero voltage drop from the battery if you can.
I can't help you on routing. I would suggest some AWG 8-10 Marine sheathed cable. It gives you an added layer of protection against shorts. Finish it up with either an Anderson Power pole, or a surface mount Anderson Jack. Cut the wire, fit new Anderson plugs, plug it in. Fuse your run at the...
I'm right behind you...... Ray it occurs to me LR did make a limited number of coil sprung models..... So why should it be an issue.. If you have a gap-- drop them an e-mail, I think they could probably sort you out.
I have noticed a bit of squeal in the morning start-- fyi, so get the belt. The one I ordered arrives Monday, I'll fit and update y'all. Back the the build thread.
Yes-- that is it-- Very good quality-- FYI-- it states on the label, this Alternator comes with a $30.00 overdrive pulley. Do not remove it. If you experience any belt squeal you may need a 1" shorter belt. I have not experienced any squeal. It actually seems better than the pictures. I...
I have been doing long term meat for almost two years--- using a couple of units as a deep freeze. My show fridge is full of meat, and stays in the trailer. Set at 0, off you go. It does consume more power... so extra solar is a real plus.
If you don't need that kind of long term, set the...
Alternator-- I found a great replacement 250a for 239.00 so carry a spare new one!!!!
Does anyone have a sense of the noise on the Cooper versus the Nitto Terra Grappler?
