    redarc manager 30

anyone use one? as far as i could tell, the first few pages of search results only had 1 or two hits for the manager 30, and those were future buyers not current. but there are a ton of hits for their BCDC and other stuff. are the manager 30 just too expensive? why aren't they more...

    LIFEPO4 battery for cheap?

wow, that is cheap. i paid more than twice that for a couple of the smartbattery because they have lifetime warranty and guarantee >100% depth of discharge. maybe that was a stupid move. time will tell.

    Overlanding during the Lockdown?

it's not about the ban, so much as being socially responsible. just because it is legal to travel here, doesn't mean you should. unless there is a sufficient reason. in my state, some very irresponsible people have gone out and had to be rescued in several different instances, putting first...

    Montero 96 SR

nice! i drove that exact model and color ('95 year though) from about 1997-2002. great car. i also had a 1983 montero sport lifted with 37" mud tires, and my parents had a 1993 montero.

mosquito netting in australia vs africa

Not a hijack that’s what I’m asking. but I don’t know what a Tuna purse seiner is So I have a trailer from South Africa. Does it have small holes or large? Would it work in Alaska?

mosquito netting in australia vs africa

the guy in this video makes an offhand comment about land rover's RTT and asks if they know that different mosquito netting is required in australia vs africa. i was quite surprised at this statement. anyone have any insight into this? it seems like he's implying that you can't use the same...

general thoughts on offroad teardrops? Think I might need a little more room.

I don't like them. a few feet to stand up is critical for me. even if it's literally just a 2' x 3' rectangle it makes a lot of difference. IME, if you bring lady friends you'll want a PETT style toilet and I think it would be really annoying to try to use one of those in a typical teardrop...

    propane set up

i'm not an expert on this, but there are apparently codes that address this. when i imported my trailer from south africa, and took it to a specialist to have them make some changes for me, they refused to work on it because none of the other connections were to spec. they said if they worked...

First aid kits, what is in yours?

i've been trying to find a youtube video i saw years ago where someone was making vented chest seals with duct tape, but i can't seem to find it. i think that would work, but they'd prob bleed out while i was trying to find and peel the edge of the tape on the roll lol maybe you could pre-make...

First aid kits, what is in yours?

it does take up some room. but it seems reasonably prudent if you're going to be wheeling as far away from hospitals as we tend to get. I pack all that and more into a bag that's about 14"x9"x6". splints are easy to improvise in some places, especially wooded areas. but on the plains or...

First aid kits, what is in yours?

MOST IMPORTANTLY: skills. go take the Wilderness First Aid or First Responder course then add to your kit: coflex bandage dressing https://www.rescue-essentials.com/coflex-afd-absorbent-foam-dressing-2-tan/ burn dressing (water jell with lidocaine)...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

it looked to me like that cable was designed to ground that plate to the frame (total speculation on my part as the other end of the cable isn't in the pic)

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

great review! question for those who use truck campers like this: if you're going to spend a few months wandering about, where do you keep all your stuff? the bed of my pickup is usually full of it, but with a camper like this, that wouldn't be possible, and i dont see enough cabinet space...

    Electrical sanity check requested

Fuse panel is actually 4 wires in 4 fuses and 4 wires out. So I don’t think concurrent load is an issue but I’ll make sure they’re isolated

    Electrical sanity check requested

So As I was replacing a faucet that was damaged by ice this winter I discovered more evidence the good folks in SA who built my trailer were fairly intent on burning it down. I had previously discovered they installed a solar charger but actually wired the panel directly to the battery instead...

Pequod - A 2019 Ram Power Wagon Build

my '17 2500 has the laramie trim bench seat instead of center console. i love it. if you have a gf, it's definitely the way to go. that's all i'll say about that! the comment about fuel tank size is spot on. it's sad. i'd really like to figure out how to double the capacity

What you look for in a portable power unit

My system is 306Ah and I think designed by idiots. I’m about to redo it. I got a large inverter and 99x out of 100 I am just using it to charge a laptop or something and it just wastes a ton of juice. I occasionally need something stronger so the idea of two inverters makes sense to me...
