My wife and I spent a few a few days in the Flat Tops camping and wheeling. As always, it was a blast, and we managed to get over 50 miles of dirt road travel and probably half of that in lo-range! I now have a date set to install the Harrop e-locker in a few weeks in Rifle. We almost got...
Then we just cruised around the state when we could: Eagle to Independence Pass, to Marshall Pass, to Kebler Pass, to Cottonwood Pass back to Eagle.
Also made it up to the Flat Tops for some amazing wildflowers.
Update 8-13-17
If anyone is in need of having their high performance coilovers or shocks rebuilt, I strongly recommend 303 Shock Services in Denver. Tim is friendly, reliable, and easy to work with. He was able to rebuild my Icon coilovers in one day, and even helped me replace the uniballs...
Started on a rear bumper, because I was stoked on wheeling by the time I got home. And the wheeling we do is pretty mild! I've left it out a few inches to protect the camper when its in the truck, and to have a solid step to reach the camper roof. But I'm debating that logic and still might...
And the fun drive to Spring Canyon Point and Cliffhanger Arch.
Probably one of the "harder" spots on the trail.
Overlook was beautiful and isolated.
Side trip to Cliffhanger Arch was fun and had some more challenging four wheeling. Definitely worth the extra time.
With dry, warm weather in Colorado up to Thanksgiving week, we spent a few days in Moab before pigging out on turkey. We had a blast with some of the easier trails. Got home and started working on a rear bumper just because wheeling in Moab is so much fun.
Beginning the drop into Long...
Nice! I've been eyeing that 20% off sale for days now. You might have just helped me talk myself into it. I keep going back and forth between the spindles or the LT. Can't afford both, but the spindle, lower uniball, and steering upgrades seem like a good first step before larger tires (I'm...
I would suggest the trailer route. Almost did the same thing with building a cart, but a trailer ended up being cheaper and easier to move around the yard and into/out of the garage.
Our over the cab bed slides out toward the backdoor. Ends up being the size of queen bed. Might be a good way...
Did a quick dad daughter trip up on Hardscrabble Mountain here in Eagle. Best time of the year to mountain bike and 4x4 here since the low bushes start changing color before the aspens. Now that she is 15 yo she is doing a lot more of the driving, even some of the lo-range fun stuff...
Some pictures from our summer. Started with a road trip: Zion National Park-CA-HI-CA-CO. Once back in Colorado we headed to the high country. Full trip report can be found here if interested: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/161684-Summer-Fun-2016
Honestly, I don't do the math. Mostly because I really don't want to know, but also because I'm lucky enough to live only 1/2 mile from work. I bike or walk to work so I can save lots of $ that way. At least that's the justification I've been going with for a few years. I would say it's less...
