Crossoverlanding Adventures - Death Valley, Hunter Mountains, and Saline Valley

I have seen that option and it looks interesting. I also have a small thin mattress just lying around in my house. It's flexible and might just be perfect so I'll give it a run next time.

Crossoverlanding Adventures - Death Valley, Hunter Mountains, and Saline Valley

One thing about camping that's always a little bit amazing to me is how you just wake up naturally. I normally sleep in, but out there I get up shortly after dawn. Doesn't hurt to wake up to this though. Packing up camp after breakfast. While my friends slept in tents, I slept in my...

Crossoverlanding Adventures - Death Valley, Hunter Mountains, and Saline Valley

Over Christmas, my family and I headed to Las Vegas and then Death Valley. Afterwards, I stayed for an extra two days to camp and hit some trails with my friends, who were joining me as my family was leaving. Our plan had been to meet up in Baker and take Harry Wade Exit Route into Death...

    Chimney Peak Weekend Trip

The wind wasn't too bad, but it did keep shifting. We actually have some electric heaters in our group, but since they're limited on battery life, they usually get saved for when we sleep. We haven't tried the beach tent and will look into that. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Chimney Peak Weekend Trip

Morning rose over our campsite, revealing that we were, indeed, the only ones at the campsite. I would say that we woke up to a cold morning, but that's not quite true. I kept waking up in the middle of the night because, though my 0 degree rated sleeping bag was quite toasty, my toes were...

    Chimney Peak Weekend Trip

Two weekends ago, a couple friends and I decided to go check out Chimney Peak by way of the Mojave Desert. We headed out on Saturday morning, my friends in their FJ Cruiser and Tacoma, and myself in my Forester. Yes, a crossover. We turned onto Bird Spring Pass Trail and was greeted with...

Did you take Hidden Valley Rd.? I'm planning to drive that over Christmas and reports of snow have me a little concerned.

Best engine and trim level to get for Subaru Outback?

I have a 2016 Forester and it's burned about 0.3 quarts in 2,200 miles. In otherwords, not really an issue. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the oil gets burned on long road trips when the oil gets time to settle at around 210 degrees. My guess is the 0W20 that is spec'd is marginal and when...
