We got the mounts on yesterday and tacked up some gussets for support. The constant measuring, putting on the van, taking it off, putting it back on, taking it back off is getting old; but if it's going to look good it's going to take time. I'm taking today and tomorrow off for obvious reasons...
I took everything out and painted it. I managed to get the floors back in.
I put 2x3's underneath the little pinch weld around the body and put in a screw long enough to reach the OSB. Everything is nice and snug.
Made a support since I had to cut the cross member for the vent...
Am I going to need some kind of ventilation on the sides for the fridge? I'm trying to avoid having to cut a vent in the body. Are there DOT regulations for this stuff? Where can I find those?
Also anyone install espar heaters? Any advice? things you learned, things not to do... etc...
I'm thinking of maybe making an aluminum tank on the passenger side in the back. That way I can utilize all the space and tuck it in. I wasn't planning on putting the tank outside. I plan to be out boondocking for at least a week at a time so I want to make sure I have enough. I like my...
I mocked up the bed today, gonna start on the cabinets tomorrow.
Now I have a good idea of how big of a water tank I can get. What's the typical capacity that people get? There's a 25 and a 39 gallon tank that can fit in the spot nicely.
Also, how much ventilation do these 12V...
So I laid underneath it and pressure washed it for about an hour. There was about a 1/4" layer of gunk EVERYWHERE. I was completely covered in it, ruined my baggies :( Anyway, it's spotless underneath now. I'm going to hit it with some undercoating to protect against the salt in the snowy...
Put the vent in yesterday... pretty straight forward. Cut a hole the size of the fitting, put butyl tape down, lap sealant, pilot holes, screws. I'm going to cut down the screws and weld some kind of support for the roof around it. I would have loved to go in between those ribs, but with the...
So what are the advantages and disadvantages of securing a floor to the van? I'm not sure how much the body flexes and if it needs some give. I was planning on securing the cabinets to the wood floor and to the walls of the van, so it will still be pretty secure in its own right.
So foam...
Put the window in today.. To be honest, I didn't measure ****. I just eyed it level, held up the inside frame and traced it out with a marker. I got pretty close with the saw and only had to use a grinder for about a minute just to smooth everything out. Pretty self explanatory.
So I've moved back to FL and I'm finally getting settled in. I haven't been getting much done because it's been pouring every afternoon. I forgot what florida summers were like. Anyway, ALL the cables to the doors were bad so I've replaced a few. I still need to get the handles for the...
Damn, I didn''t realize you guys did heaters too. Coulda been 2 more things I could have already had done. :\ I move back to the states in 4 days and them I'm back to working on the bish.. I can't wait to get home.
The go power solar elite setup. $2,700. This is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Is there anything out there comparable to this whole kit but cheaper? I priced it out individually and found some other brands that I'd have to piece together that wasn't that much cheaper. I'd rather...
