Yep, as I mentioned in the post, I wouldn't want to use that for more than a few minutes. However, for it's intended use, it's great. It's not for splitting wood, it's for chopping roofs or striking another tool. Especially for the latter, F=MxA.
The early Ford Broncos ('70-'75) had drum brake Dana 44's that many have converted to disk using parts from a Chevy Dana 44. I did mine around 10 years ago, but I really don't remember a lot of the specifics other than that I bought the kit from Wild Horses. A more modern day search of Bronco...
Fire Axe
Someone said something about asking a firefighter. OK. Here's my two cents. Those who spoke of handle length and head weight are right on.
My high school physics and calculus days are long behind me, but I seem to remember something about force = mass x acceleration. Mass = the...
Simple answer... yes, I have one.
Mine is a '74 with factory C-4 automatic and power steering. I prefer the '74/'75 models to the '76/'77 ones. No catalytic converter and a different steering set up. I put a 351W in it in around 1992. It only has around 20K miles on it since then. Lot's of...
I saw someone on here post about making a pressurized eye wash station into a shower. I'm thinking that it would make a great mister. Someone has a few NOS ones on eBay right now for $99.

One thing I do know, a Hudson sprayer -- at least a cheap plastic one -- doesn't work...
Hmmm... I wonder if one could drill and grommet the safe so that an external screen and keyboard could be used with a secured laptop. Or maybe use some kind of bulkhead through connector. You'd have to unlock the case to turn the laptop on, but still....
Just ordered one of these from Dave. I intend to use it when out hiking on fires. There's some great potential to use the tracking feature to sent a fireline back to base camp by satellite long before I could hike back and download my GPS.
I also just found a rebate form at West Marine. Go...
Yeah, exactly. It's not always necessary, but sometimes I stealth it in a rest stop or someplace. I don't have to have the camper fully closed when I close the swingout, but need a way to reach through a narrowly opened door at least. Maybe I should hinge it even with the door and connect it...
I used a Costco yoga pad. It's around 2 ft wide by 6 ft long and around 2 in thick. It's not the softest thing in the world, but it'll do. I actually have two, so I can stack them if it's just me, or put them side by side if the wife is along.

My biggest problem is figuring out how to close the swing out after/during closing the rear door. I like the utility of a swing down, but then I'd be fighting gravity as well.
