FYI, I have matching 4runner wheels on my trailer but the threads are not metric so I have a different set of lug nuts (with shoulders or whatever the inners part is called) on my trailer.

Most popular stove's used in Overlanding

I had replied on post #21 but since that time I have done several trips. We used a Cook Partner Steel stove at 30 F degrees when the wind was a steady 20 mph with gusts. It takes a little longer to cook things, but it worked. Two days ago it was 103 F, no wind and it worked just fine. I broke...

    Expo Vehicle and an Airstream

One thing I notice is it is not how many panels you put on top of your airstream, it is where you put them to gain the maximum amount of sun with the least amount of shade. I see so many airstreams with huge ac units, vents, antenna, and satilite dishes, which all shade your panels.

My 12 volt USB chargers are dieing.

When you can purchase an entire charging system for less than you could buy the parts, it's usually crap.

Heavy gauge wire/cable Crimp or Solder for Offroad use?

I too use a combination of the two. Some crimp packages (APP for example) work so well, you shouldn't need to solder and some connection make sense to solder (inline wire runs). Find what works best for you and get good at it.

    Trailer harness problems

Thank you for the input. I was at my wits end trying to remedy this. I'll get the setup for the J560 and next time it causes me trouble, I'll switch it out. I could try the ezconnecter when I get rich.

Let Me See Your HF Box!

I was ready to go with a shore power setup but haven't even been close to needing it. All this work really depends on what you want for your rig.

How hot can a setup get?

I have most of the system shut off when driving but the panels are charging while we travel. And I misread one of the several places about the Thermal sensor (not breaker) it shuts the unit down at 85C and restarts when it cools to 80C. I will have it propped open when camping on hot days.

How hot can a setup get?

I carry a thermometer too and will be measuring it throughout the warm days. For now, I can prop the lid open. I can't think of a way to vent it without letting all the dirt and dust in.

How hot can a setup get?

Yes, I was reading more about this and Morningstar is rated to 60C (140 F) A battery doesn't do as well. It looks like some venting will be on it's way.

How hot can a setup get?

Since I've been reading these threads, I've noticed that a few of the wiser members mentioned that you need to be careful how hot these setups can get. Well, Morningstar has a non resettable thermal breaker (I think) and am now concerned. We do most of our traveling in the West and Southwest...
