It's all torn appart right now, put a new faucet in it, then found the water pump was trash, so I had to order that. Tried to replace the dash lights with green LED's (one was burnt out) but it came with only two lights, not the required four, so the dash is still torn...

How do you do that in post? It was actually taken with an iPhone, so I didn't have exposure control, but you are definitely right about how she would pop more with a shallower DOF.

I agree with everything Zorro says. Are you manual focussing maybe? If you post all your exposure settings with each picture it would probably be easier to give specific advice. The softness looks like you have a really shallow depth of field and are just slightly miss focussed?
