Just a quick update.
I've gotten the frame and drawers installed, but without the metal brackets underneath.
I noticed when I test fitted the drawers that they weren't level, and to my utter surprise I find that one of the holes I drilled for the roller bearings is sitting about 1/8" too high...
I had the bumper cover off this weekend repairing a tear with some fiberglass. I was wondering how much metal work and re-plumbing was involved when you installed that bumper.
Specifically, where did you relocate the steering line "cooling tube" to?
What was done with the cross piece that...
First off, a heated blanket is a huge waste of power. I've slept in a quality sleeping bag to -20f. Sleep as naked as you're comfortable with and put your clothes under the sleeping bag. It take s a little bravery in the morning to emerge and get dressed, but that's part of the adventure...
Will the shackle fit into the mouth of the hook? If so, couldn't you just put the 2x strap ends into the shackle, pin it, and then drop it into the hook?
Assuming you'll be off-roading, in a remote area, and might have to do electrical repairs in the field. Not just installing light bars and sound systems in the garage...
ROSIN core solder (NOT acid core)
A tube of RTV for waterproofing the BACK sides of connectors.
WD-40 for chasing water out...
Every Tool Has a Purpose
I mean, you know...just in case the duration of your trip is longer than your supply of pre-mix for the chainsaw...
Note he even makes the handles for his tools rather than pack them in...

The headroom thing is actually my first fear. Not for me, but the wife. We'll give it a try right after Christmas and see how it goes.
Edit: One of my other challenges is managing the rear hatch from inside. I don't like the fact that I can't open / close the window, nor open the lift gate...
Entrance to abandoned mining settlement in Mogollon, NM
House and view from the settlement. I think that's Willow Mountain, Mogollon Baldy, and Black Mountain in the background.
First off, well done!! Nice work tailoring the bits around the shape of the cargo area! And the pride of doing it yourself can't be measured!
I would be a little concerned about supporting the fold outs on the sides. Right now all of the force on those areas would be carried by the piano...
The OP wants to go off-roading...I think we're still on topic.
There's a bit of tongue in cheek going on here; I'm sure "soft roading" may be in his future, but he's new to the forum and may learn a bit by looking at what the rest of us are doing. Why discourage the guy?
As his limits are...
Exactly! What better way for a young man to learn the lessons of life? Go out an live it up!! Then decide if you want to trade the 'stang in on something that will take you farther down your path, or modify it, or stick to autocrossing...
