    Suburban dual Batteries?

Putting in a big fuse or circuit breaker from the main battery to the starter would have stopped that from happening. You can also run a marine switchable battery unit under the hood, look at any online boat dealer, they're red and can do batt 1, batt 2, or batt 1+2, etc

    Suburban!

no reason to run the stock quad shock setup anymore, shock technology has come a long way, might as well just buy the ones valved for single shock setups and pocket the cash you'll save. ;)

    73-87 Chevy/GMC Pickup's

lots of box body style suburban buildups on here, I had a post about mine a few pages back. Still haven't done anything besides sleeping bag it in the back yet though while camping/hunting

    any chevy guys used these?

you must be buying some really crappy headers with then flanges or cheap gaskets then. I've ran them on sbc engines in the rust belt for years without issues. Maybe buying quality fel-pro gaskets and aluminum gaskets for the 3 bolt flanges would eliminate exhaust leaks. Using stage 8 brand...

    any chevy guys used these?

don't bother with shorty headers IMO, i'd run long tubes they will be worth much more torque than shorties.

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

finally got the title fixed to the right year. Really happy to see all the other burban build threads lately. Now to figure out a good storage solution for where the spare tire used to be. Thinking of mounting a tool box or some other storage bin for straps, spare fluids, etc.

    Suburban!

i have a build thread that got bumped to page 2 if you'd like to check it out. For some reason the title hasn't been changed from 1998 to 1988 but it is the old box body style and I love it :)

    Too many miles?

I'd probably up the price range for a lower mileage truck or think about how a truck with that many miles will definitely need a bunch of maintenance items to keep running smoothly.

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

Just picked up a set of CUCV rear shackles for this truck as well off a local forum, so now I'll have tow hooks up front and rear shackle mounts off the military 1 ton trucks from my body style. This should hold me over until I get tubular or plate aftermarket bumpers.

New to forums, changing my build direction

If you did wood I would look into marine grade, or pressure treated lumber. Not sure if it would be a good choice of material in general but I'm sure more knowledgeable people on here could help you with that. I beat the system by starting with a suburban so I already have a hard top to sleep...

New to forums, changing my build direction

Looks like a great buildup so far. I had 3.73s in my suburban with 35ish tires and the truck was a dog taking off from lights with the th400. Swapped to 4.10s and it might a slight improvement but I'm definitely going to jump up to 4.88s shortly. I like your tubework ideas thus far and will...

95 2 Door Tahoe SAS project

Truck looks great, too bad that 8.1L motor is $1500+ on ebay or from local junkyards. Really like the stance and rim/tire choices.

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

Ya I'm really looking forward to this swap come spring. I'm sure the extra 100 pounds removed off the nose of the truck will be a great thing as well to offset the bumper/winch I want to toss up front.

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

it is out of an 04 avalanche. With all the extra weight over the back on a suburban I don't see it wanting to spin these heavy tires or come around on me, but I'm sure the extra power will really wake it up. Ride is a lot better with the shackle flip than it was with the lift blocks that the...

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

yes I have one laying around, it will net me a few mpg on highway over this tbi setup. Not to mention it's rated at 315hp whereas my motor now is 190hp and has 195,000 miles on it. The truck feels sluggish when fully loaded for a trip, I know eventually it'll get 4.88 gears instead of the...
