    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

I bought a cable driven harness and cable truck intake and truck throttle body. The drive by wire intakes are different and would need some vacuum stuff plugged up whereas it's on the cable driven throttle body. I just need to buy a long throttle cable and I'm set, some guys mod the ls1 camaro...

    Universal cone style paper airfilters

you can buy a prefilter for those K&N that are foam and go around them. Otherwise dark doesn't necessarily mean it's clogged FYI

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

Thanks larry, ya I looked around for an 8.1L like we have in our 2005 3/4 ton suburban, but the prices for them are insane around the chicago area. So I ended up with the 5.3L which should stay in a pretty nice powerband with the th400 and no o/d in the trans, I'm guessing the extra 3-400 rpm...

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

unless you tow 99% of the time on long trips, diesels are highly overrated IMO. These new gen 3 motors from GM absolutely are amazing. It would take me tens of thousands of miles to break even on the cost difference, then there's the huge weight penalty for trying to run a diesel as well.

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

hubs are working fine, locally there was no warn options besides for dana 44s, and that obviously won't work on my dana 60 front. Ya I haven't used cardomain in a long long time, not even sure I could log into it at this point. 5.3L gets better mileage than 6.0L and it's still a 125hp jump...

    1988 1 ton suburban buildup

Well it's been a while, got to play in some snow the other day, blew up my front spicer locking hubs and had to swap in some new superwinch ones. Hopefully they hold up better, couldn't find any other brand locally and it was stuck in the locked position. Finally got around to that motor...

    Jack's 2007 Chevy Build

I'd put my 1 ton suburban with sbc/th400 trans up against that toyota any day of the week. Guess it helps him feel better at night knowing his toyota is indestructible. Guess you can't have drivetrain issues if you don't make any power. ;) Just says something when I have 195k on the truck...

    97 Suburban 2500?

I love my 1 ton suburban, started life as a 88 3/4 ton and then I tossed in a dana 60 and 14 bolt full flloater rear out of a 2007 diesel pickup, so I have huge 4 wheel disc brakes all around now. I have the tailgate rear and much prefer it over the barn doors IMO. On a 6" lift with 35s...

question about A.I.R Pump and cat removal

technically illegal from a federal law standpoint. You can remove the entire air pump and unhook the hose running to it along with the cat for off highway use only I believe without any issues ;) If the cats not plugged it's not hurting anything and running one isn't costing you any HP or mileage.

Advice on a platform for a FWC or other slide in

i'd skip both the 6.0L and 6.4L fords, lots of problems with them and crappy mileage. I would however consider the duramax diesels in a crew cab short bed setup. Unless they're rock crawling I don't see the IFS being an issue. Really that list is all over the place, will they need a 3/4 ton...

    Suburban Owners.. MPG?

8 city and 11/12 highway mpg in a 88 suburban 3/4 ton on 35" tires and 6" lift kit tank is either 31 gallons or 40 iirc in these models, so that should tell you the mileage possibilities.

1976 GMC pickup with a few things added....

Truck looks great, one thing I noticed, ditch all that rubber fuel line from the pump to the carb, that is just asking for a fire.

    More Suburban work

Don't have any valves anymore since I deleted all that stuff. They wanted over $200 from LMC truck for that diverter valve, I just ran "T" fittings off the heater hoses instead. There is plenty of coolant flow, just doesn't stay warm all the way to the back is my guess. Ran probably 35 feet...

    More Suburban work

looks great, i mounted my mic to the left of those switches. I hooked up the rear heat in my suburban and it doesn't work that well IMO, thinking I need to put some cardboard in front of the radiator since when I would flip it on, only cold air would come out and the hoses never felt hot...

    Suburban dual Batteries?

Autos don't really install them, but on bigger boats it's mandatory, no reason you can't adapt it to auto use.
