Best cooler for a 3 week trip?

Minor point, but Yeti actually took the idea from Australia. I think the first "super" cool I ever saw was around 2000 on a guides boat in Florida. It was either an Engel or an Icey Tek. But Yeti by far has the best name recognition.

    Outback as backroad camp vehicle?

I would change dealers. Ours installed a 2" hitch for us when we bought it. Asked how much our camper weighed, told him between 1500 and 1800 depending on how it's loaded. He said you are good to go. Ours is a 16 4 cyl CVT with X-mode.

    Coyote(s) with mange....what to do?

I should have been a littler clearer in my comment. It wasnt pointed at you or Dalko, or anyone for that matter. It was pointed more to a general mindset I see in regards to coyotes or really any predator around here. Here they are usually killed because they are coyotes. We clear cut tracts in...

Best cooler for a 3 week trip?

If you can buy ice every few days, it doesnt matter what you get. I have and have had Yeti, RTIC, Canyon Cooler and Coleman Xtreme and I use the Coleman more than any.

Should it stay or should it go?

Didnt mean to hurt your feelings, Makers Mark is pretty good stuff for changing your perspective on others "problems". Had you said I have a family member who needs a medical procedure, which should I sell, now thats a problem. The fact that your Runner with it's 5000# tow rating wont tug a...

Should it stay or should it go?

Oh the humanity, first world problems are so hard on us. I can hear a whining sound. Buy some stuff from Yeti, I'm sure you will feel better.

Curious what the "best" Subaru, new or old, for an overland build.

Probably depends on what your idea of under powered is. It's an absolute streak of lighting compared the the 89 Jeep wrangler I had.

Yep, done a bunch of exploring in New Mex, Colorado, Arizona and Utah. But for me, I'm a solid 10 hour drive from El Paso. Not a short trip to be had with out crowds unless you go mid week.

    Lets talk about camp lights

Oh yeah, makes sense, I guess thats why some people bring a TV to gather round instead of a camp fire.

This is true, just have to be careful to stay around the waterline in many areas. Trespassing laws can be pretty expensive. I'm not much of a canoe'r though.

I agree, unfortunately its not possible in Texas. Very little public land and what there is can be very crowded. My vacations are to the middle of now where, i could move and start over again but workin cheap is not something I would like to do.

Out of Dallas you got a days drive to find primitive camping spots, then they are usually crowded as well. The weekends are the only real problem.

Peerless Mantles seem to last better than the new Coleman ones do.

A Coleman is a task specific tool. It's not one to sit around under and try to see the stars or watch the campfire (not sure I understand needing light to watch a camp fire, but if you are filleting 50 sandbass, a Coleman is hard to beat. As soon as the task is finished, you put it out. Horses...
