    butane below freezing

Has anyone ever tried the iso-butane stoves that you flip the bottle over below freezing? Seems it might drop pressure but maybe theres enough propane in the mix to keep it going until it warms up due to the radiated heat off the stove.

    Using a Yeti backwards?

I agree, it does keep cooling, but at how fast? And you arent going to see continuous 2º F in the southwest. Short stretches, yes,

    Using a Yeti backwards?

How much air is in store bought ice? And how much air is trapped within the packed chest? I dont know, just never had beer freeze. I think the key is eventually. The OP is talking about the southwest. I have spent a lot of time in the southwest, and unless there is a pretty brutal front...

    Using a Yeti backwards?

So whats the normal temp of ice, give or take 32 I'm guessing. And I'm talking bagged ice. Thats how catering trucks keep drinks from freezing, they dont heat it. The only way I have ever had beer freeze in a cooler full of ice is when it's rock salted, even then it just plugged the top of a...

    Using a Yeti backwards?

I was serious about just using ice in your Yeti. Ice is a insulator itself (snow caves, igloos). So if you fill your cooler with crushed ice it will maintain a close to 32º f temp for a while. There are a lot of little trapped air pockets where those little ice chunks meet and there not much...

    Using a Yeti backwards?

Just put it in ice. Thats how roach coaches do it to prevent soft drinks freezing. Add fresh ice when it's gone and you will keep it above freezing

    New GM Hd?

I suspect it is tied to pedestrian safety regulations. They are starting to remind me of my 1960 Chevy Apache

    Colorado trip - gearing questions

Tight gears can be a PIA on long stretches of Texas interstate where speed limits are 75 mph (in some cases 80 and in one case 85 mph). You're going to spend a lot more time droning at 70-75 mph than you will spend on mountain passes. Just drop a gear (or two) and let it run where it's...

Ozark Trail "High Performance" cooler - any good?

I have a couple of the Polar Bear 24's, they are great coolers. Not the 6 day kind, but mine are faded and beat and work great for a couple days

    PINS trip

With a hard easterly wind at high tide the beach can get a little constricted, but watch the weather and you should be fine. I picked up 6 almost unused camper leveling blocks on this Sunday drive down the beach. You can see one in the photo. LOL The trailer ahead, no one was there and water was...

    PINS trip

I passed a guy sitting on the hood of a 30 year old Cadillac about 20 miles down the island a few years ago. He was running right along the surf line. I have been several times all the way to Mansfield cut and never used 4WD, other times, dropped off the pavement and within a mile was locking...

    PINS trip

Thanks, I enjoyed this. The history is deep in the area. Memory fails me on the name the locals gave it, but there is a confederate blockade runner back behind the dunes at around the 40 mile mark. Well, the deck boards at least, rest is gone, was a steam side wheeler. Man, I wanna say the...

    PINS trip

There used to be an absolutely huge alligator that hung out at the Goose Island fish cleaning station. Also if you decide to fish the Copano Bay fishing pier, if you go out from the north end heading south, I think it was at the 9th light, there is a oyster reef a hard cast to the north west...

    PINS trip

Always enjoyed Padre Island, this guy wasnt still stuck there was he? LOL Few years back, at about the 40 mile mark, 60 psi in his tires, stuck. I said you might need to air down. He said, cant, roll a tire off the rim with the weight. I told him, not likely my Suzuki on street tires is gonna...
