    Equipt's Alaska Solo Trek June/July 2014

Paul, Something dawned on me today while out fishing about the current configuration of the 4Runner. Can you outline a bit of the tools, recovery gear and spares you are carrying? I notice a specific lack of shovel, axe, MaxTrax, High-Lift normally present on you vehicle roof racks...

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

We are currently in NT but we lived in Brisbane for a bit. During that time we explored Girraween and Boonoo Boonoo. Some great parks in South Eadt QLD. The weather here is not really "brass monkey" but getting close to it. Lows if 16 deg C at night. I must be getting soft.

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

We took the opportunity to enjoy a bit of fresh air and give our leg muscles a workout. We also move a bit slower along the trails as we carry our daughter. It was a great day. We even saw this little guy along the track. He's a geco from Stanthorp’s Girraween National Park

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

After our repairs were completed, we struck out in a South West direction heading to Stanthorpe to take in the Grape and Apple festival. We would be making a stop in Warwick to catch up with some old co workers along the way. Everything was booked up in the Stanthorpe area due to the...

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

Time for a bit of backtracking to our departure from Brisbane in March... Every journey has it’s challenges. When you depend on a motorized vehicle for your travels, sooner or later you have to fix something. We were one day out on our journey, just North of Brisbane QLD when my wife said...

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

Thanks for the tips. We have a 7 month old daughter with us so the family walks will have to be shorter. Weather has been warmer than usual, mid 30's mid day.

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

Yes that is what I tried to explain, the pub was moved to keep it on the main highway as it changed from when the pub was originally built. All for exposure. It's unfortunate that interesting building and the reputation has gone downhill in recent years. The previous publican had been there for...

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

Great guess. The whole concept of six degrees of separation came into play for this visit. The new owners are from the same town where we have lived for the last 5 years and I worked with their new owners relatives. We enjoyed a chat to discover the history of the pub and changes since the movie...

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

Stayed at an interesting place last night. This pub was made famous by a film featuring the Australian outback. Anyone care to guess?

    The "Hot Lap" Exploring Australia

I'll have to backtrack a bit later on when wifi is better, but here 's a bit of an update. We left Brisbane, meandered south to Cessnock where we had an issue with our trailer batteries and the weather was not being cooperative. Thanks to my wonderful wife's efforts we secured a dog and house...

Expeditions 7: Two Years Around the World on all Seven Continents.

Great vehicles. Drove a 76 with diesel chip and 3" exhaust mods. What a machine! Had a good look at the 78's and 79 in Brisbane with Scott and Kurt.
