Sitting here thinking about it I did stall the engine in second gear going up a sand hill this morning, thinking that might have something to do with it.?
I have just entered Mexico and am south of San Filipe and have just started hearing a clunking sound when accelerating in second gear, maybe three or four clunks, then maybe one or two in third gear but once moving along it goes away.
It seemed to be more when leaning to the left but that may be...
I really don’t know why turning on the ac works, there was a thread on this forum where I read it and I think there was a bit of an explanation to it ??
Yes I believe there is a grounding issue with the flickering coolant light, when I purchased the truck it was noticed right away and I...
I have had some cooling issues also in my 2007 FG, here are a few of my observations.
First noticed a cooling issue climbing the Coquihalla Highway in BC, it’s a pretty long climb that ends with an 8 percent grade for 5 kms. I had done that trip many times before but this time there was an...
These trucks do not like salty conditions at all! For many years now we have been travelling to Mexico initially starting on the Baja peninsula then going to a place on the beach where there is an onshore breeze blowing salt mist over my rig all day, so prior to travelling south the frame gets...
Hi David! 2007 with only 33k miles seems like almost brand new, that year truck was selling off the lot for around $50,000cdn so if I was looking for one of these it seems “rare” trucks I’d probably offer a fair bit depending how much I wanted one. I know this answer sucks but getting a low...
You are getting a lot of good info here, from my experience the Sika you plan to use must be for the right application. it’s been a while but from memory Sika 252 is for bonding products together and if the two materials are different a certain amount of beaded Sika to form a “Sika gap” is...
My truck did not have any tire changing equipment at all, was all removed and a Fuso rep told me it was for liability issues, as in if they supplied all the stuff to change a tire and I hurt myself it was Fuso’s fault.
I carry three bottle jacks, two of them 6 ton and one 4 ton, I rotate my tires often myself and I use two of them for that. Don’t let meatheads near your truck with those giant impact guns!
I have met a guy who has set up propane injection for his truck and it looked to be a simple setup, its been a while since I saw it but it was led into his air intake somewhere and he uses a remote valve to switch it on and off, I have been keeping my eye open for him so I can check it out again...
Yup, 18 inch and I am using 1000lb actuators so that they don’t wind down once the roof is up, the 200lb actuators lift the roof no problem but after several years of use they would start to wind down slowly and these have been working for six years and work great although slower than the 200’s.
Great write up Steve!
If I read between the lines your theme of this write up is to keep things simple, have systems that aren’t too complex or too electronically reliant which is hard to do in this day and age, and as I was reading I was reminded of the time your electric steps were possessed...
