We made it back out to Wee Tee today, unfortunately some dummy (me) forgot the waterproof camera so pictures are few. :(
We made it out there about 10 and set up a base camp at the landing. The roads were pretty muddy, so even though I probably wound't have had a problem with leaving the...
I found a little area several weeks ago I have been wanting to check out, but all the rain we have had was keeping the Santee River above flood stage and flooding the roads. In planning a canoe trip for tomorrow I did some scouting this afternoon to check the condition of the roads. Clear...
Sunday morning gave me the chance to get away for a couple of hours. I did manage to find a really nice camping spot. This is right in a bend on the Santee River. 4wd is required to get to it which is a good thing.
It is on the flood plain, so camping in the wet season is out. Late summer or...
Not sure how I missed your update. I'm loving the sub enclosures. Great design. Keep up the good work. You have some good ideas for making the most out of very little space.
I have added several circuits to the electrical system to power the air compressor, inverter, etc. When I wired them I used inline fuses and tied them straight to the battery. Elegant it wasn't, even if it was serviceable. I replaced all the inline fuses yesterday evening with this.
This...
This is probably the same one. The Strawberry Chapel is on the Cooper River right next to the Bonneau Ferry WMA. I've also been to the St. James Goose Creek Chapel and the Pon Pon Chapel down by Jacksonboro.
I don't have pictures of St. James Goose Creek, but here is the Pon Pon Chapel. I...
Nothing new but I have put some miles on it.
I put about 150 miles on it this weekend. Exploring around home has been a lot of fun.
Here's a teaser.
The rest of it is here.
Ill be adding to that thread as the miles add up. I'll be adding to this one as the Samurai evolves.
Sometimes that's all the time you have. Family, work, just life in general. As much as I would love to hit the road for months at a time, it's just not in the cards. But stealing a day, or even two, every month or so, that's possible. Beating around on Google Earth and studying maps I realized...
Mr Ed, sorry I missed responding your post. The engine swap used the Samurai transmission and transfer case and a adapter plate.
The main reason I did a diff gear swap is the 5.38s 3rd members came with the Samurai when I bought it. At the time I figured a 3800 rpm cruise wouldn't be too bad...
Another small update. This one is a comfort issue. Factory Samurai seats are horrible. There was no way I would be able to spend thousands of miles in them without being crippled. They were designed for children under 75 pounds. Unfortunately, I'm 6'2" and 270 so the seats had to go. I didn't...
The overhead compartment is brilliant. Thanks for sharing the design.
How are you fastening the wood? Is it just glued, or is it glued and stapled. Also, how are you fastening it in the Jimny. My Samurai doesn't have much in the way of structure in the roof. I'm afraid I would have to fasten...
I did a 90+ mile test run this past weekend. About 75% of that was graded dirt and gravel roads, 2% un-improved track, and the rest asphalt. I'm very happy with the way the suspension turned out. Ride quality is actually very good. even on pot hole filled roads.
The differential gears will...
